Season 1, Episode 1: Our Review of the Amazon Prime Documentary- "Lot Lizards"

Photo Credit: Alexander Perlman hello everyone! For Season 1, Episode 1 of the Verbally Disastrous podcast, Melissa and I are going to discuss our review of the documentary entitled, "Lot Lizard". Lot Lizard is available on Amazon Prime Video. This documentary is directed by Alexander Perlman. We have been trying to learn how to use the audio equipment over the past weekend. We are using Soundtrap for our studio recordings. One must ask, what the hell is a Lot Lizard? According to the Urban Dictionary, the slang phrase lot lizard means the following: prostitutes that frequent truck stops. Of course this phrase is a derogatory nickname for a woman who gets paid to have sex with truck drivers. According to the documentary, there are about 3 million truck drivers and roughly 5,000 truck stops that litter the entire United States. Each truck stop is laden with both men and women looking to get paid for sex from truck drivers that spend long hours away from their family while on the road. I used to hear guys at work talk about "glory holes" being at truck stops. It didn't surprise me that this way of life exists for men on the road. Melissa and I find this way of life to not be surprising and a dysfunctional niche within our society. Then again, not much of this is shocking as a New Yorker.
