Advice: Meaning Of "Fit To Be Tied" & Impact Of "Let's Be Friends"

Photo Credit: https://www.vice.com/en/article/mbn54n/psych-patients-at-this-hospital-were-tied-down-and-ignored-records-show Hello Everyone! What's is happening for you on your side of the globe on this summer Wednesday afternoon?? Thankfully, it is cooler and less humid compared to last week. This weather report is courtesy of your favorite NYC construction chick! :) Before we get into the details of this blog post, I shall share with you my first children's book that's entitled, "Not All Girls Play With Dolls" that is available in e-book, paperback, and hardcover on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes. Additionally, I'm also sharing my first adult e-book entitled, "Construction Tales: Volume I: A Woman's Journey To Become An Electrician". I have risen yet another day with the ability to share with you another double dose of my custom crafted advice. For your first mental course, the subject is on the origin of the phrase, "fit to be tied". Prior to writing this response, I never really thought to look up the origin. I was humored as to the origin. I will let you read the response and not speak further on that one. For my second question and answer, the topic is on either the negative or positive impact of stating "let's be friends". I totally believe that, no matter how awkward the conversation, you need to have that discussion when you first experience the unwanted advances. Letting the intensity build for a relationship that you don't vibe with will make the aftermath fall on your shoulders. Yes, you are minding your own business. Yes, this person is imposing their will and intentions on you. However, by being totally mute on the advances, you are allowing the feelings to build with an increasing intensity each day. If they continue to build past the moment where you express your lack of interest, you indeed did your part by stating your position. If they ignore your wishes, then you need to put distance between you two or get the police/court involved. Over the years, I have dealt with a few unwanted advances at work. I was always super clear about my feelings from the moment I detected the unwanted advances. Additionally, I was cautious about their feelings moving forward as well. I have no intention of taking a "dirt nap" because I didn't have the courage to speak up. Have you experienced unrequited love? If so, how did you react? How did they react to the revelation? Go ahead and drop your input right down the in comment section below. Then continue reading even further on my blog topics down below: POSED QUESTION #1: "What is the origin of the phrase “fit to be tied”?" -By Carlene Webb MY RESPONSE #1: "Over the years, I have heard this phrase being used periodically by different types of folks from all walks of life. According to my internet sources, this phrase first appeared back in the early 1800′s. The phrase, “fit to be tied” alludes to the practice of tying up uncontrollable mental patients. Back in the day, society was not as kind towards mental patients. They were considered to be the scourge of society. Many prominent families, including the Kennedys, would lock away any family members that were not considered to be of a sound mind. This practice of tying up mental patients with rope or cloth gave way to the use of the straitjacket. The straitjacket was invented over in France back in 1790. This phrase is an indicator of a person’s mental status. If the person is not of a sound mind, they are fit to be tied up. I can’t imagine being tied up and medicated within some padded walls. God bless anyone who must endure that form of treatment. May you have much success along your life path that doesn’t involve the confines of a mental health facility. #ConstructionTales #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls #VerballyDisastrous" -By Leslie M. Jasper https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-origin-of-the-phrase-fit-to-be-tied/answer/Leslie-Jasper-3 POSED QUESTION #2: "How negatively or positively can the phrase let’s just be friends affect an individual’s life?" -By Marc Bloemers THE RESPONSE #2: "That positive or negative impact hinges on each party’s investment towards each other. This investment totally relies on the perception of the relationship in the eyes of each party. If a person feels deeply connected to the other person who wants to just be friends, the deeply connected person will be negatively impacted once they face reality. The party who doesn’t want a deep connection will be relieved to take the pressure off of the relationship during the friendship revelation. Therefore, that same person will be positively impacted by shifting the relationship dynamics to a “just friends” status. Hopefully, the person wanting the deep connection doesn’t go off on the deep end of the mental pool as a result of facing rejection. If the rejected person reacts poorly out of anger and frustration, this can cause physical and/or mental anguish for the rejected party. This response and reaction would hold a negative impact for both parties. In extreme cases, the rejected party can murder their love interest. This is why it’s very important for a person to be extremely transparent with their feelings with a potential love interest. It’s an uncomfortable conversation that needs to be had as soon as possible. As soon as you see the unwanted advances, it is time to meet up and softly reject the other party. It is better to power through an awkward conversation as opposed to allowing the person to develop intense feelings that are not reciprocated. In some cases, the person will not take “no” for an answer. This is when it’s reasonable to get the police and the court involved. Hopefully, the intervention by authorities will force the extreme party to die down with their intensity. Never play with a person’s emotions since that can yield such disastrous results! May you have good luck along your path and not cross paths with a psycho love interest. #ConstructionTales #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls #VerballyDisastrous" -By Leslie M. Advice: Christians Who Write Laws & Women Who Aren't Interested In Marriage

Photo Credit: https://pdave.me/2016/11/25/marriage-blog-yess-and-nos/ Hello Everyone! How's life going for you on this Monday afternoon?? It is just as hot and humid today, here on the streets of New York City, as it was last week. Don't forget to drink water and keep that sense of humor alive. I'm switching up this blog post by offering one question that I tackled and one poetry response from a writer on Quora. I do try my best to tackle a wide range of topics. This includes subjects I'm not totally fond of; religion and politics. Before you slip into this duel subject Quora blog post, I shall share with you my first children's book that's entitled, "Not All Girls Play With Dolls" that is available in e-book, paperback, and hardcover on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes. Additionally, I'm also sharing my first adult e-book entitled, "Construction Tales: Volume I: A Woman's Journey To Become An Electrician". I have the pleasure of being able to share with you another duel dose of Quora advice. For my first course for your mind, the subject is on Christians who write laws in the United States. Religion is one of my favorite topics; I have never said ever! :) However, it sounded more interesting to speak on compared to other questions that others have posed for me to respond. I grew up in a Baptist family that was heavy in the religion. I used to have to go to early Bible study, morning service, and then evening service on Sundays. I also had to go to church on Wednesday evenings and then with the youth group on Fridays. Due to my extreme exposure to church, I chose to not go as an adult. Additionally, I didn't force my two sons to go to church either. I let them make that decision on their own. Over the years, my eldest son would go to church with his girlfriends and their family. I believe that the religious freedom that we have in the United States doesn't compare to any other nation in the globe. If I am wrong, by all means tell me. Compared to the signing of the Constitution, I think the religious hold on society is no where near as tight as the beginning. I'm happy for that since religion is not an integral part of my life. For my second piece of advice, I chose a topic that wildly swings in another direction compared to religion. I opted to grab a person's poem, by author Dushka Zapata, on the subject of not choosing to get married as a woman. I shared with the author that I am sharing on my blog with my feedback. The list of reasons why a woman chooses to not marry is rather large in nature. I find many valid points that mirror my previous choices to not get married. I made the choice to marry as a young woman at age 18-years old. It was an incredibly difficult 2-year journey before he passed away due to a motorcycle accident. It's hard enough to blend to opposing genders from different backgrounds in the first place. Add a young age to the mix and it is a recipe for a disaster. I have not yet crossed paths with a man that I truly want to hitch my wagon to him. If the person is not responsible in some way, they can drag you down with them to the bottom of the ocean. It is not a good thing to recover from if the person's wagon goes far off the tracks. Screw up your credit and it takes many years to get back on track. Even if the road traveled looks good, you can't predict the future and the outcome with great certainty. Over time after getting to know a man, I see that it will not be a successful experience and then I eventually bow out of the relationship. I have come close a few times in my life of tying the knot. Women have it tough already caring for the family. Add a job that is physically demanding to the equation. The men I have crossed paths with tend to get lazier and lazier over time while in a relationship with me. Once I get out of the relationship, the man then realizes that not all women are willing to step up to contribute to the relationship. I had one relationship where the guy just sat in the living room while I carried in the groceries. I guarantee he will never find someone to pick up as much slack so he can sit on his ass in the future. Perhaps that is the karma for years of enduring his extreme laziness. Instead of making my life easier, it feels like I have another body to be responsible for and that turns me off over time. This is the main reason why I've chosen to not get married. Being lazy with efforts and finances is such a huge turn off!! I'm happy to report that there is not a man out there where I screwed up and let him get away from me. Scratch that; there was one guy who I met after my husband died who could have been very good for me. It was too soon after becoming a widow and he was very overbearing and it made me run away. I felt like I was going to lose myself in the relationship since he wanted to steam roll over my voice and choices. It wasn't right for me at the time so I don't regret it. I have found the best success in a relationship with keeping the finances separate. Struggling with finances is a key reason for a divorce. The partner offers money for half of the bills and is free to keep their remaining proceeds to themselves. If my partner or I work overtime, it is fair to be able to enjoy that as you wish and see fit. I've always seen the woman carry the bulk of the responsibility of child rearing. Shout out to the people who recognize the needs of children and choose to not have them. Just because you can make children doesn't mean you should. Your heart needs to be in the right place in order to give them a great life. Shout out to the men who recognize a woman's hard work and step up to work as a team with their wives! Much credit needs to be given to the non-lazy partners out there. In some parts of the world, people cannot marry who they want to marry. My heart goes out to anyone stuck in the wrong situation or those who feel trapped in a marriage that was expected to be better than what it actually is in reality. What do you think about marriage? Have you put thoughts into the future of a union with another soul? Don't be afraid to leave your thoughts right down the in comment section below. Go ahead and continue reading my selections for you today right down below: POSED QUESTION #1: "Why do Christians feel that they should write the laws in the U.S. when not everyone is Christian?" -By Pinky Pinkerton MY RESPONSE #1: "The heavy influence of Christianity goes back to the founding fathers of the nation who signed the Declaration of Independence. They were mostly Christian Protestant in nature. Despite being of the Christian faith, they made provisions in the Constitution for the freedom of religious persecution. I believe that it is hard to write laws, despite the line in the sand between church and state, that were not based in some way on religion when the group had deeply rooted religious beliefs. The first amendment established the freedom of religion: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances”. The First Amendment was adopted on December 15, 1791. This amendment established the right to be free of religious persecution and other freedoms of speech. Over the past 200-years, more and more people have entered the country and they belong to different religions. Compared to other nations, I’d like to believe that the United States gives more freedom to various religions than any other nation in the world. If I am incorrect, please enlighten me with a name drop of another nation. I believe that Christians believe it is their duty to enlighten others that they would consider to be “lost souls”. It is one of the cornerstone proclamations that I recall as a young Baptist church goer. After all, it is believed that lost souls will have to meet up with Satan once they are finished with this journey on Earth. Religion is on both a conscious and subconscious level. I don’t think many are even aware that their laws are wrapped within the Christian faith. Oftentimes, it takes a high level court judge to remind lawmakers of the separation between church and state. May you have much success on your life path and freedom of religious persecution. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls" -By Leslie M. Jasper https://www.quora.com/Why-do-Christians-feel-that-they-should-write-the-laws-in-the-U-S-when-not-everyone-is-Christian/answer/Leslie-Jasper-3?prompt_topic_bio=1 POSED QUESTION #2: "Are there women who aren't interested in getting married? If so, why not?" -By Dushka Zapata THE RESPONSE #2: "Yes, of course. Because she doesn’t see the point. Because she’s been married already and it wasn’t all that. Because of a previous bad experience. Because of a previous good experience that cannot be replicated. Because she wants to focus on other things- such as a career, or her friends, or her family, or her nieces and nephews. Because she wants to focus on raising her children. Because she wants to keep her finances separate. Because she loves the life she already has. Because she is not monogamous. Because marriage regards a woman as property. Because marriage can be a trap. Because marriage is designed for the convenience of men. Because it’s not legal to marry the person she wants to marry. Because it’s dangerous to marry the person she wants to marry. Because divorce is rampant. Because marriage is expensive. Because marriage is not what you think. Because marriage is exactly what you think. Because marriage is more trouble than it’s worth. Because marriage is not necessary. Because she feels she does not need it. Because living together is enough. Because she doesn’t want to live with anyone else. Because she prefers to be alone. Because she feels she does not need a relationship. Because she prefers casual relationships. Because she wants to have sex with more than one person. Maybe not right now but definitely some day. Because she wants a commitment that does not involve paperwork and the law. Because she doesn’t like her mother in law. Because she is afraid. Because she is not. Because she has not seen any examples of a good marriage. Because she believes people who are married are only happy for a couple of years. Because she does not want children. Because what if she changes her mind? Because forever is a long time. Because what if her feelings change? For an infinite number of other reasons, all valid because it’s her life and as such the decision cannot ever belong to anyone else." -By LINK TO DUSHKA'S WORK: https://qr.ae/pvMPGt I thank you for allowing yourself to sift rigorously throughout my various advice posts. This is short story #11 entitled, "Juggling Motherhood & Working With The Tools". This short story covers my life as a widowed, single mother in the era when I juggled both motherhood and my career as a journeywoman electrician. I share the various challenges I faced and lessons learned along the way. The previous short story is entitled: #10: "Early Life Lessons & Characters To Meet As An Apprentice". I decided to write about some life lessons such as guarding your personal information, managing nasty rumors, combating sexual harassment, gender discrimination, and racism. Overall, the construction culture has improved dramatically over the past 25-years. Developing both a thick skin and a sharp tongue are key tools needed to survive various jobsite antics. I hope you learn something from this short story. There are more to come. These short stories are now also available as Verbally Disastrous podcast episodes. Advice: Discussing Habitual Dumping & Awake But Not Woke

Photo Credits: https://www.ebay.com/itm/224570825494 Hello Everyone! How's life on your side of the globe on this Thursday afternoon?? Do your best to stay cool and dry!! This is damn near impossible while working within warm locations around the globe! Also do your best to keep your sense of humor throughout the remainder of this week. I've always been a fan of laughing at least once each day. My co-worker and I did a pipe scaffold inspection today. I'm blessed to be able to retreat to my air-conditioned office and write out this blog post for your reading pleasure. Before deep diving into this blog post "pond", allow me to share my first children's book that's entitled, "Not All Girls Play With Dolls" that is available in e-book, paperback, and hardcover on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes. Additionally, I'm also sharing my first adult e-book entitled, "Construction Tales: Volume I: A Woman's Journey To Become An Electrician". I'm pleased and totally honored to be able to share with you a duel slice of Quora advice today. This first piece of advice, I dug into the crate and found an aged Quora response. This advice was written about 10-months ago. Despite it being an older response, I saw the value in the content and opted to share it with you. This next chosen topic is on the subject of habitual dumping that happens during a conversation. Like with any revisited Quora response, I'm highly tempted to edit and expand on the initial response. However, those were my thoughts during that particular timeframe. Therefore, I have opted to leave it be. I'm not really a fan of folks who use the phrase, "how are you" as the green light to dump their problems on me. I don't think that asking for a person's general well being would be my green light to unload my issues either. I don't favorably view people who use any conversation opening to cry about their plight. We are all in the struggle with our own lives and people need to remember that. I find people who don't get that as selfish in nature. My second topic of the day is on the discussion of being "awake but not woke". Despite the fact that this subject could be considered controversial, I opted to take a stab at it anyways. The goal is to not ruffle emotional feathers; just to provide a topic to think about. Believe it or not, I'm one of those chicks who isn't very fond of discussion on politics. However, I do see the value in seeing the evolution of the collective mindset. I also see the value of the various extreme voices on either side of the coin. I take what both sides into consideration when forming my own thoughts on the topic. The beauty is that my thoughts on almost every topic can shift and evolve as I review new data. It's no surprise that I'm always game to hear your thoughts on any advice that I offer in my blog posts. Feel free to leave your thoughts down the in comment section below. Go ahead and continue reading what I have selected for you down below: POSED QUESTION #1: "Is habitual dumping considered conversation?" -By Pinky Pinkerton MY RESPONSE #1: "I have never heard the term “habitual dumping” before. I went to see the advice of others and there is not much to review. I tried looking it up in the Urban Dictionary with not much luck. When I think of habitual dumping, I think of a person who gets with others to exclusively dump their problems onto others during conversation. They see others as a means of unloading their problems. That can be such a draining experience if each and every time you have a chat with a person, they drop off their baggage of problems. I envision a person with negative energy who opts to transfer their negative energy onto others. Technically, that is considered a conversation. However, it is not a good conversation to look forward to having with that toxic person. A person who does it constantly is a very selfish person. After all, misery loves company. Anyone who does this each and every time is a selfish prick!! I wish you luck with dodging these types of energy vampires! #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls" -By Leslie M. Jasper https://www.quora.com/Is-habitual-dumping-considered-conversation/answer/Leslie-Jasper-3 POSED QUESTION #2: "What is another way of saying “awake but not woke”, and when did this expression become popular?" -By Barbara Young Capalbo MY RESPONSE #2: "My interpretation of this catch phrase is that the speaking is informing others that they have their eyes fully open as to what’s going on around them. However, they are not choosing to think within the similar thought process of the woke crowd. Being aware of societal issues is crucial with understanding current behavior and predicting future behaviors of members throughout a society. Having an open mindset with the ability to heavily observe and take notes of members within society is key to being awake within the midst of societal issues. It’s helpful to think about solutions for those observed societal issues. The solutions may not necessarily be accepted by society. Despite potential rejection, it’s helpful to at least the start the conversation about fixing issues that plague the hearts and minds of many. It takes many discussions over many years to get a large group to shift the collective mindset and get on the same page about fixing some major societal issues. I find value with the mindsets of the most extreme members of society. I believe they cause a minor shift in the overall mindset of the collective within each society. For every group of folks with an extreme viewpoint, these all people work to shift the collective mindset slightly towards some middle ground. Finding an equal balance somewhere in the middle on various societal issues would be ideal to me. I imagine this phrase has been popular for the past 10-years thanks to various social media platforms. As a latchkey child from the 80’s, I’ve gotten the pleasure of seeing the slow evolution of the mindset of society. It wasn’t that long ago where people smoked on planes, the doctor’s office, and in bars. Never mind the mind blowing, shameful fact of a human owning another human less than 200-years ago! Here in the United States, people of the same sex got the right to marry and divorce if they so choose a few years ago. You don’t have to be woke in order to appreciate the power of personal choice. Just when it feels like society’s mindset evolves at a snail’s pace, it’s helpful to think about some examples of societal progress. When I picked up my trade as an electrician back in the early 1990’s, men were way more vocal in expressing their displeasure with me on the jobsite. Thankfully, in the 29-years of my non-traditional career, I don’t hear no where near the same pushback compared to where I first started. You can never get every single person on board with any issue. I count my blessings when I recognize that people, who have an issue with my presence, can’t stop me from performing my job. I thank the most extreme viewpoints in society for allowing me to get a foot in the door with the initial opportunity. This opportunity didn’t come from the silent members of society. It’s totally true that the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Over time, that squeaky wheel slightly shifts how society conducts itself collectively. You don’t have to like/love what others do. Just don’t be the one that stands in the way. May you have much success on your life path with very few interruptions with what you set out to do! #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls" -By Leslie M. Jasper https://www.quora.com/What-is-another-way-of-saying-awake-but-not-woke-and-when-did-this-expression-become-popular I thank you for allowing yourself to sift rigorously throughout my various advice posts. My goal was to not stir up your emotions with these topics that I have presented today. I'm aware that this is a challenge for some. At the very least, have them in the back of your mind to chew on. If you so choose, share how you feel on the chosen topics today, by dropping your thoughts in the comment section at the bottom of the blog post. Advice: Best Way To Apologize & Meaning Of A Tight Crew

Not All Girls Play With DollsNot All Girls Play With Dolls by Leslie M. Jasper

View all my reviews Photo Credits: Goodreads.com Review Hello Everyone! How are you beating the heat on this steamy Wednesday afternoon?? As I have tried all week, I'm still trying to hide out within my air-conditioned field as much as possible. How's life going for you on your side of the globe today? Stay cool and try to keep your sense of humor throughout the rest of this week. Hopefully, you are totally kicking ass and taking names with your goals on this warm day today? Before we dive right into this blog post, allow me to share my first children's book that's entitled, "Not All Girls Play With Dolls" that is available in e-book, paperback, and hardcover on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes. Additionally, I'm also sharing my first adult e-book entitled, "Construction Tales: Volume I: A Woman's Journey To Become An Electrician". Now, let's jump right into today's two-for-one advice blog post, courtesy of Quora, for your reading pleasure and momentary escape from reality. This first piece of advice is on the art of an apology. I don't think anyone is a fan of facing the music in the aftermath of some hurt feelings. Despite the displeasure, it is best to just own it, convey one's apology with sincerity, and then keep it moving. The hardest part is owning any part of pain that I may have genuinely inflicted on someone. It sure as hell doesn't feel good. My second topic of choice is on the meaning behind working with what is known as a, "tight crew". It is a phrase that I've heard often. It is a phrase that perhaps I take the meaning behind it for granted. It makes sense that the meaning is somewhat fuzzy with exactly what it means. If English was not my first language and I was unfamiliar with types of slang used, I would also scratch my head in bewilderment as well. I have the home field advantage of both being from New York City and having a teenager. This city is the absolute melting pot with every person from pretty much any part of the world. I love this region of the United States and do not want to be anywhere else. I'm sure I will change my tune by the time it's time to retire. I will want to go somewhere more low key and affordable in regards to the cost of living. Because of my background, I am familiar with how this particular term is meant. My fellow construction workers use this type of slang alot too. I was just told today that I speak way too proper for a construction worker. For the time being, I work with a lot of Spanish laborers with broken English. Depending on the pool of people, I myself can sound like I'm speaking a foreign language if I'm not careful. A tight crew are loyal and will look out for each other like they would family. At the end of the day, it doesn't get any better than that. As you already know, I'm open to hearing another way of viewing this phrase or any other advice that I drop in my blog posts. Now dip your toe in the Quora pool, via reading what I have selected for you down below: POSED QUESTION #1: "What's the best way to apologize when you can't think of the right words?" -Quora General Question MY RESPONSE #1: "I’m a fan of being rather direct with an apology or a lack thereof. Most people do not respect a bunch of hot air. Actions ALWAYS speak louder than words. However, I am a fan of putting thought into an apology. I would be honest and say that the situation has deeply impacted me. I need time to properly sort out my thoughts so that I can apologize in the most meaningful way possible. Then I’d be sure to acknowledge how my actions have impacted others. After taking time to re-group, I would then say what was on my mind with the apology. Calm environments are the best atmospheres for reflecting on previous actions and/or words. Actions always trump words no matter how fancy the words come out. It would be my duty to be better moving forward. May you have much success on your life path and forced to offer the least amount of apologies as possible. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls" -By Leslie M. Jasper https://www.quora.com/Whats-the-best-way-to-apologize-when-you-cant-think-of-the-right-words/answer/Leslie-Jasper-3?prompt_topic_bio=1 POSED QUESTION #2: "What does it mean to work with a tight crew?" -By Dina Chen MY RESPONSE #2: "I interpret a tight crew as a close knit group of co-workers or a band of good friends. The group of co-workers and/or friends each look out for one other and made the work day flow much better. In some work environments, the crews can each pitch in to complete the tasks collectively and swiftly. They may even pick up the slack for an absent co-worker who needed to handle personal affairs. The vibe on projects where the crew is tight oftentimes will be warm, friendly, cohesive, fun, and very easy to be around. In reference to a group of friends, they treat each other like family. A tight crew can all collectively have their affairs in proper order. They can be considered to be top of their game on an individual and/or group level. The description of the crew is considered positive in the highest regard. Being considered like family is one of the best compliments to offer. May you have great success and luck on your life path! #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls" -By Leslie M. Advice: Origin/Meaning Behind Giving The Cold Shoulder & Carry Water For Someone

Not All Girls Play With DollsNot All Girls Play With Dolls by Leslie M. Jasper

View all my reviews Photo Credit: Goodreads.com Review Hello Everyone! Sadly, I'm reporting that we are right back to a Monday afternoon. It sure is super humid and swampy on my side of the globe today. I'm trying to hide out in my air-conditioned field as much as possible today. How's life going for you on your side of the globe today, my friend? Hopefully, you are having an amazing day that's filled with major accomplishments and some laughs along the way today. Before I share my input, allow me to share my first children's book that's entitled, "Not All Girls Play With Dolls" that is available in e-book, paperback, and hardcover on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes. Additionally, I'm also sharing my first adult e-book entitled, "Construction Tales: Volume I: A Woman's Journey To Become An Electrician". Now, let's get into today's double advice blog post, courtesy of Quora, so that you may review today's topics of choice. This first piece of advice is on the meaning behind the phrase, “give someone the cold shoulder”. I totally get "ice queen" vibes off of this phrase. The world can be a cold, cruel place. A cold shoulder, from a beloved person, can make it an even icier and miserable existence. Oftentimes, there is a valid reason as to why a person gives another person a cold shoulder. I'm not convinced that a cold shoulder is unprovoked. I sure as hell know that if I'm giving the cold shoulder, someone made me absolutely miserable. My second delivery of advice is on the meaning behind the phrase, "carry water for someone". It's not a phrase that I've heard often. I'm offering my interpretation based upon my use of common sense. As with the other blog posts, I do my best to try to think about the few ways to view the coin. However, there are times when I'm drawing a blank or just offering the bare minimum of what I can think about. I shall let you decide if I went in the weeds enough or not. As always, I'm open to hearing another way of viewing the coin. It's now time to relax in the Quora discussion lounge by reading what I have selected for you down below: POSED QUESTION #1: "Where does the phrase “give someone the cold shoulder” come from?" -By Jenter Ton MY RESPONSE #1: "When I think of this phrase, my interpretation is that another soul has turned their back on you and have totally walked away. This person has totally abandoned the other in the iciest way possible. Let’s refer to the internet in order to see where the earliest recording of this phrase popped up. Well, why not use Wikipedia to do my heavy lifting? The first recorded use of the expression was in 1816 by Sir Walter Scott in the Scots language, in The Antiquary. This expression is a mistranslation of the Latin phrase, “dederunt umerum recedentem” from the Book of Nehemiah 9.29 from the Vulgate Bible, which actually means "stubbornly they turned their backs on you". This phrase is derived from the Septuagint Bible's Greek equivalent, “ἔδωκαν νῶτον ἀπειθοῦντα”. Latin, “umerus” (often misspelled humerus) means both "shoulder" and "back". This phrase demonstrates such cold behavior that I wish on no one. May you experience nothing but warmth, love, and loyalty along your life path. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls" -By Leslie M. Jasper https://www.quora.com/Where-does-the-phrase-give-someone-the-cold-shoulder-come-from/answer/Leslie-Jasper-3 POSED QUESTION #2: "What does it mean to "carry water" for someone?" -By Earl Kliethermes MY RESPONSE #2: "My interpretation of a person carrying water for another person would be that they are picking up the other person’s slack. This can be in the form of assisting with the easiest of tasks or tackling ones that require a tremendous amount of time and energy. The objective to carry water for another person would be to make their life easier. Perhaps carrying water is a way of showing love and affection for the other person; known as their love language. I’m not used to anyone carrying water for me. The only thing I’m used to is taking care of everything myself. A person may chip in on occasion and carry water for me. I would totally appreciate it the day it happens. May you have someone who has joy in their heart while carrying water for you. I wish you much luck and success!! #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls" -By Leslie M. Advice: Meanings Behind The Gift That Keeps Giving & Overtaking A Vehicle

Photo Credit: https://memegenerator.net/instance/56330022/mr-bean-oh-youll-get-the-gift-that-keeps-on-giving-if-you-know-what-i-mean Hello Everyone! I'm looking forward more and more to the end of the work week!! Why do I like the weekends so damn much?? For one, I like to dodge the extremely warm and humid days at work. My second reason would be so that I can spend quality time with my beau. Another amazing benefit would be spending time with my sons plus the bonus of sleeping in!! How's life going for you on your side of the globe today, my friend? I indeed wish nothing but an amazing day for you that's filled with joy and accomplishments today. Before you get into today's random Quora topics, allow me to share my first children's book that's entitled, "Not All Girls Play With Dolls" that is available in e-book, paperback, and hardcover on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes. Additionally, I'm also sharing my first adult book entitled, "Construction Tales: Volume I: A Woman's Journey To Become An Electrician". It's now time to dive into today's duel advice blog post, courtesy of Quora, for your review at your leisure. This first piece of advice is on the meaning behind the phrase, "the gift that keeps on giving". Of course, my dirty construction worker mind went right into the dirtiest scenario that you could possibly think of today. If you are a regular reader of my blog posts, you should totally expect this from me. If you are new and find yourself clutching the pearls, sorry for the filthy visual that I'm about to present to you. I don't even want to say what it is since I like mental surprises. :) As you can gather, I'm not a prim and proper broad over here on this blog post. I tend to say what's on my mind minus the filter around here. I'm also open to hearing what is on your mind as well. The second round of advice is on the meaning behind the phrase, "to overtake a vehicle". As with yesterday's selection of blog topics, there are a few powerful meanings behind that phrase. I didn't get down and dirty with that one. However, I did think about a few ways to view the coin. It's time to slide right into the Quora discussion pool by reading both the questions and my responses down below: POSED QUESTION #1: "What is the meaning of the phrase "the gift that keeps on giving"?" -By Rose Anne Campbell MY RESPONSE #1: "I interpret this phrase as a gift that continues to benefit a person long after the initial appearance of the actual gift itself. These benefits could be a stream of income, happiness, a sense of safety and security, great memories, companionship, or other fringe benefits. An example of a gift that keeps on giving would be being gifted with real estate on the beach. It’s already a gift to get the property on the beach. The ability to rent out the property as rental income would be a secondary gift of the initial gift. Another benefit would be to be able to make great memories with your family members. Yes, I’m aware that only rich people do stuff like this. :P This phrase can also represent a form of sarcasm as well. As a seasoned construction worker, I’ve become accustomed to being proficient in sarcasm. My sarcastic example would be when a person receives a sexually transmitted disease, such as herpes. Saying that herpes is a gift is total sarcasm. The part where it keeps giving is when you can never get rid of it and how it can keep randomly popping up to make the person infected miserable. Yes, I’m aware that no one would be happy to have a random break out of herpes. :P Hence, the total sarcasm. May you have much luck and success on your life path and avoid the pitfalls that can occur along your life path. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls" -By Leslie M. Jasper https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-meaning-of-the-phrase-the-gift-that-keeps-on-giving/answer/Leslie-Jasper-3?prompt_topic_bio=1 POSED QUESTION #2: "What is the meaning of "to overtake a vehicle"?" -By Naeimeh Tavakolinia MY RESPONSE #2: "I think of a few interpretations of this phrase. The first one that comes to mind is that the minute you get in the driver’s seat and start the car, you are overtaking the vehicle. This is because you are taking control of the operation of the vehicle. In the event of a car jacking, a thief puts a gun to an innocent driver’s head. The thief either demands them to get out of the car or sit in the passenger seat while they take over the vehicle. The goal is to get away from a crime scene or just take ownership of the vehicle. Another interpretation of the phrase is when the vehicle has a major issue, such as a tire blow out, and the vehicle is attempting to go off the road. The driver of the vehicle must hold onto the steering wheel with full force in order to maintain control of the vehicle. During this moment of impact, the driver is attempting to overtake the vehicle. May you have the best luck with your life path. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls" -By Leslie M.
