Double Advice: Friend Vs Person & Phrase Interpretation

I had a great weekend and I sure hope you did as well. The best experiences are random and totally not planned. I met up with my friend for drinks on Sunday and we met new people to hang out with as well. I had a little too much to drink and it impacted my sleep for work on Monday. I was at work dying with a hangover and waiting patiently to go home and get some sleep yesterday. Thankfully, I feel much better today. I'm tee-ing up for you yet another double Quora injection for your reading pleasure. This first piece of my mind is on the topic of using the term "friend" vs "person". This one is bound to ruffle a person's feathers if they think they are closer to a person in their head versus reality. Obviously since a person is asking the question, they must give a damn. At least the person lets the other party know where they stand. Then again, it could be a slip up of words. However, I have my doubts on that one. Being a friend typically indicates that you have more meaning than a random person walking down the street. For the second round of advice, the topic is on using laws to crack down on behavior. I'm assuming that English is not the person's primary language. If that's the case, I sure hope I fully explained the meaning behind the phrase. The use of “person” means that you are merely a passing person or an acquaintance. Meanwhile, the term “friend” indicates a closer connection to that person’s inner social circle. If that is the way a person feels and you don’t like it, you have assess and work on the relationship. You have to review your contributions to that relationship and make changes. Let’s use drinking and driving as an example. Here in the United States, it is illegal to drink alcohol and drive a car. Over time, organizations have been created to establish laws on drinking and driving. Sadly, these organizations are often comprised of people who lost their loved ones to a drunk driver. It wasn’t that long ago that there were no punishments for drinking and driving. If anything, the police would follow the car to make sure they got home or tell them to sleep it off in the car. Now that there are DWI laws to punish drunk drivers, you can now not get away with drinking and driving. The use of DWI checkpoints have been established in an effort to crack down on this illegal behavior. A checkpoint is the closure of a main roadway using police cars.
