Advice: Do As I Say, Not As I Do & What's A John Hancock??

Photo Credit: https://boldomatic.com/p/86vIKw/you-do-what-i-say-not-what-i-do-the-hypocrite Hello Everyone! Yay!! It's Friday my friend!! If you indeed observe the current Memorial Day holiday, what are your 3-day holiday weekend plans my friend? I still haven't locked in what I'm doing yet but I'm going to do something fun for sure! Sharing with you that my first children's book "Not All Girls Play With Dolls" is available in e-book, paperback, and hardcover on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes. I found out that this book is on Book Goodies website. Check out the link and photo above to check out their website. The same reminder goes for my first adult book entitled, "Construction Tales: Volume I: A Woman's Journey To Become An Electrician". Your favorite New York City sparkie chick here is sharing more Quora advice for some review and digestion. This first piece of advice that's up to bat is on the topic of interpreting the phrase, "do as I say not as I do". That is a phrase I heard a lot as a kid. There is nothing more annoying than a hypocrite or someone asking you to do stuff they aren't even willing to do themselves. You get the energy that you are willing to put out. I can't imagine asking someone to do something I'm not willing to do myself. Why would I even waste my breathe micromanaging another person when I'm coming at them half ass?? Yes, I think the person doing that is indeed a hypocrite. Do you agree?? Now, for the second round of advice, the topic is on the meaning of the expression "John Hancock". This phrase is just slang for your own signature. The history of this expression goes back to the founding fathers of the United States. John Hancock was one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. It would make sense that a person who is not from the U.S. would not know the history behind the origin of that phrase. I don't have much further to speak on that phrase so go ahead and read my response down below. Go ahead and share your thoughts on my chosen topics by dropping your wonderful input down in the comment section down below. Check out the question(s) and my response(s) down below: POSED QUESTION #1: "Do much of society’s issues come from the phrase do as I say not as I do?" -By Stef Lynn MY RESPONSE #1: "I remember my father saying that phrase to me as a kid. I was a kid who didn’t want the smoke so I listened to his advice. However, I can understand why a person would laugh and even ignore a person who doesn’t choose to practice what they preach. I find it interesting to see people who provide guidance yet have chosen to not follow one’s own advice. What’s the point of guiding someone to do something you’re not willing to also do? That person knows that this observation will be made on their own behavior that doesn’t follow their own advice so they utter this phrase. I wouldn’t want to ask someone to do something I’m not willing to do myself. I would feel like I’m a total hypocrite. Going out of your way to tell people to do behavior that doesn’t match your own is ridiculous. What’s the point? In order for society to flourish, we need to be good citizens and each do our best while also expecting the best from others. If you don’t want to practice what you preach, what is the point of even opening up your mouth? If people in society generally don’t want to do the right thing, I would say that this will lead to having a negative impact on society as a whole over time. Then again, if everyone in society are not willing to put in the work to do the right thing, they are getting exactly what they put into society. Therefore, you are reaping the rewards of your efforts. Do people actually deserve to receive more than what they are willing to do? I don’t believe that you deserve more than what you offer. Therefore, society is getting exactly the same energy that has been put out collectively. If society wants more, they should collectively all step up their efforts. Yes, problems can arise in society from when people do not practice what they preach. If you are relying on society to put in the work collectively that you are not willing to personally do, whatever you get is on par with what you deserve. You can’t possibly expect more than what you are willing to produce. It’s not easy to rely on society for my own welfare. I have little expectations from society. Since I don’t place big expectations on society, it saves me from being highly disappointed. I have always believed that it’s best to be as self reliant as possible. I’m trying to think about in what area must I rely on society. I’m drawing a blank on that at the moment. May you have much luck and success on your life path with limited disappointments from society! #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls" -By Leslie M. Jasper https://www.quora.com/Do-much-of-society-s-issues-come-from-the-phrase-do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do/answer/Leslie-Jasper-3 POSED QUESTION #2: "What is the meaning of the expression "John Hancock"?" -By Marcelo Philippe MY RESPONSE #2: "The “John Hancock” expression has some American founding father history to it. American Revolution leader John Hancock (1737-1793) was a signer of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. He was also a former governor of Massachusetts. The colonial Massachusetts native was raised by his uncle, a wealthy Boston merchant. When his uncle died, Hancock inherited his lucrative shipping business. John Hancock is the person whose signature is very valuable and significant. He is primarily remembered by Americans for his large, flamboyant signature on the Declaration, so much so that John Hancock became, in the United States, an informal synonym for signature. John Hancock is credited with being the first signature on the Declaration of Independence. In a nutshell, John Hancock is another way to refer to your own custom signature. It’s supposedly not true that Hancock signed the Declaration in a big way to taunt the King of England. Legend has it that Hancock stated that “King George will be able to read that!” In reality, Hancock was the first to sign and there was only one other person in the room. This is unlike that famous painting that shows a gaggle of patriots witnessing the event. Hancock did take a big risk. His signature was evidence of treason if things didn’t go well in the war! Thankfully, for his sake, the war favored the the colonies and not England. I hope this provides a decent explanation of the history of this infamous expression. May you have much luck on your life path! #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls" -By Leslie M.
