Advice: Yes Versus No Analysis & "Coming Down With Something" Meaning
Hello Everyone!
How was your weekend on your side of the globe, my pal?? It was rather hot and humid on my side of the globe this past weekend. I missed out on the Pride Parade that went down yesterday. After being in the sun all week for work, I'd rather chill out on my day off. Therefore, I laid low and stayed near the air conditioner. I did get to accomplish some tasks in the process of staying near the cool air. I'm honored to be able to share with you my random Quora blog posts. I'm also honored to be sharing with you my first children's book that's entitled, "Not All Girls Play With Dolls" that is available in e-book, paperback, and hardcover on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes. I'm also sharing my first adult book entitled, "Construction Tales: Volume I: A Woman's Journey To Become An Electrician". Now, I'm offering you another double dose of Quora advice for your review. This first piece of advice is my take regarding the topic of saying "yes" as opposed to saying "no" plus an explanation. When you have to offer an explanation, it better be logically sound and you need to be prepared to hold your ground and maintain your position. That form of preparation can potentially be mentally taxing. Regardless of the level of preparedness that may be required, hold your ground and firmly offer your position. Some things are totally worth fighting for in life. The second round of advice is on the meaning behind the phrase, "I may be coming down with something". If you think you are getting sick, the odds are pretty high that this is actually the case. I did respond to a question but it temporarily disappeared. It will pop up later when the moderator of the forum approves my response. Therefore, the second blog post was not my intended one to share. I shall call it my "back-up dancer" advice question so to speak. I'd like to hear your unique take on today's chosen topics. I always welcome another way to view a situation. Let's review these individual discussions by checking out the question(s) and my response(s) down below:
POSED QUESTION #1:
"Why, during times of stress and grief, might it be easier to say yes to something than explain why you’re saying no?" -By Jayantilal Patel
MY RESPONSE #1:
"Oftentimes, it’s easier to just say yes when you are afraid to speak up. Now, why do you fear speaking up? Perhaps you don’t want to hear the other person’s mouth after using your voice? The other person is about to add even more stress and grief to an already intense situation. If you are super stressed out or experiencing major grief, it’s hard to even think properly. For the sake of simplicity, it could be less stressful to just agree and figure out how to proceed at a later date. It’s hard to please people under normal conditions. Saying yes can hold off a rather dramatic conversation if the two parties do not agree to the terms and conditions. Holding off can give you time to properly re-group and think about your future approach when the time is ready for the discussion. Once you have your approach down, then it’s time to reveal your position. It’s better to be well rested in order to tackle the expected pushback. More rest aids with also having more patience in future conversations. May you have good luck and much success along your life path. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls" -By Leslie M. Jasper

POSED QUESTION #2:
"What is the meaning of "I may be coming down with something"?" -By Naeimeh Tavakolinia
MY RESPONSE #2:
"That phrase means that you are getting this overwhelming sick feeling that overtakes the body. This sick feeling is an indicator of you not feeling your normal self. In the early stages of being sick, you feel the initial symptoms come on. You’re essentially identifying those early symptoms since they predict what’s coming next. We typically get fever, chills, sore throat, body aches, etc. in the very beginning. The initial symptoms somewhat let you know how long and intense the illness will be. Arm yourself with plenty of water and rest in order to get past the sickness. May your illness be short in duration and not very intense. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls" -By Leslie M. Jasper

I recently shared my latest short story that has been loaded up to my Construction Tales-Told By A Woman Kindle Vella Library on Amazon. This is short story #11 entitled, "Juggling Motherhood & Working With The Tools". This short story covers my life as a widowed, single mother in the era when I juggled both motherhood and my career as a journeywoman electrician. I share the various challenges I faced and lessons learned along the way. The previous short story is entitled: #10: "Early Life Lessons & Characters To Meet As An Apprentice". I decided to write about some life lessons such as guarding your personal information, managing nasty rumors, combating sexual harassment, gender discrimination, and racism. Overall, the construction culture has improved dramatically over the past 25-years. Developing both a thick skin and a sharp tongue are key tools needed to survive various jobsite antics. I hope you learn something from this short story. There are more to come. These short stories are now also available as Verbally Disastrous podcast episodes.
