Hello Everyone!
I'm trying to stay dry on another rainy Friday here in New York City. I hope you are safe and well on this last day of the work week. Yesterday was a rather warm day that was highly appreciated. How is life on your side of the globe today? Here in the United States, we are observing Mother's Day on Sunday. Do you also celebrate Mother's Day on your side of the globe? I plan on getting my hair done and then go see a movie with my sons since it is raining. We originally were going to BBQ at a park since that is more fun than sitting in a restaurant. I have been very busy this week at work so my blog posts have been limited. I'm reminding you yet again that my first children's book "Not All Girls Play With Dolls" is available in e-book, paperback, and hardcover on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes. I opted to share with you some more Quora advice. You are getting another slice of advice to digest with me today. I'm giving you something to read while on your break. This advice is on the meaning behind this phrase “I understand if you want to move on”. Have you ever heard this phrase uttered before? I've heard samples of these indirect questions in the past. In my opinion, the person is asking the question by placing ownership of the disconnection on the other person. The person is suggesting that the other person wants to move on and offering to release them from the relationship. On the other hand, this person asking may have received enough social cues, over a period of time, through the person's words and/or actions to form an opinion that they don't want to stay in the relationship. Instead of remaining in a near dead relationship, it makes sense to clear the air and ask what's on a person's mind. What's the worst thing that can happen? You ending up breaking off a relationship that was dying anyway. Time is short so we don't have time to waste. I know that having that emotional connection is hard to cut. The fastest way to cut off the relationship is to remove the intimacy. In many relationships, the main soul tie is through sex. I believe that sex is an exchange of energy. That's why, in my opinion, that you need to be careful with whom you have sex with since you don't need to tap into bad energy. I'm aware that many couples remain in semi-dead relationships. They are afraid of opening the discussion into what each side wants. It is the fear of being alone. You have to be quite comfortable with your own skin and take care of yourself. I tend to cut ties with relationships that are more work and cause more pain than joy. I would describe each time where I end the relationship as a wrestling match where I'm in a head lock tapping out-LOL. It is very important to push the eject button when you see that you are doing all of the heavy lifting in the relationship and not being treated correctly. Any form of physical abuse should never be tolerated! God bless anyone who chooses to remain in a bad relationship that makes you cry, question your self worth, or consistently gives you emotional turmoil. Once you ask the question on the relationship, you will know one way or another. Just remember that being single means you answer to no one but yourself. There are many benefits to the single life and some cons. I totally understand people who are financially dependent on their significant other. I was really dependent on my spouse when he died. I felt better once I gained my independence that took time. Nowadays, I can't imagine being forced to stay with someone due to financial reasons. Making your own money can be addicting. I'm not against a man choosing to make my life easier. However, I don't feel comfortable with quitting my job and relying 100% on a man. I don't give anyone who chooses that any grief either. I hope I didn't ramble way off topic. :P Well, what is your interpretation of this phrase? If you have a totally different interpretation of this phrase, by all means, let me know in the comment section down below. Without giving too much away, go ahead and check out the question and my response down below:
POSED QUESTION:
"What does it mean if someone says “I understand if you want to move on”?" -By Joy Tabram
MY RESPONSE:
"You may have given social cues that you are no longer interested in a relationship and desire to move on. If you genuinely didn’t give hints that you want to move on, then this is a temperature gauge on our reaction to the comment. They may be observing your responses since you have left them in the dark previously about your intentions. It’s an indirect way to ask you about the status of your mindset. You need to do a quick self analysis as to how your words and/or actions have led to the other person not properly estimating your mindset. I wish you much luck and success with navigating through the perils of relationships. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls" -By Leslie M. Jasper

I recently shared my latest short story that has been loaded up to my Construction Tales-Told By A Woman Kindle Vella Library on Amazon. This is short story #11 entitled, "Juggling Motherhood & Working With The Tools". This short story covers my life as a widowed, single mother in the era when I juggled both motherhood and my career as a journeywoman electrician. I share the various challenges I faced and lessons learned along the way. The previous short story is entitled: #10: "Early Life Lessons & Characters To Meet As An Apprentice". I decided to write about some life lessons such as guarding your personal information, managing nasty rumors, combating sexual harassment, gender discrimination, and racism. Overall, the construction culture has improved dramatically over the past 25-years. Developing both a thick skin and a sharp tongue are key tools needed to survive various jobsite antics. I hope you learn something from this short story. There are more to come. These short stories are now also available as Verbally Disastrous podcast episodes.
