Vol. #37: Showcasing (3) More Awesome Gang Authors!!
Hello Everyone!
Is your Wednesday afternoon going smooth like silk or feels like a damn cactus? The weather is continuing to improve gradually here in New York City!! I shall take it since my muscle spasms do not like the cold weather. How's the weather in your neck of the woods?? After some more going back and forth with edits, my illustrator Anastasia and I, from Tad_Art on Fiverr, are actually finished with Not All Girls Play With Dolls illustrations!! I did my best to hunt down some YouTube videos in order to figure this out how to get it properly formatted and go live on Amazon. The goal has been to have my children's book released and live on Amazon by April 2022! :) I was going to give Book Bildr a shot with getting it ready to go live on Amazon. However, I opted to instead try using my Book Bolt account and I was able to generate the interior and the cover. I plan to blog, when I'm done and the book is actually live, about my process used in order to generate the book. I was counting on using the Createspace website when it was time to load the book. However, I found out that the website no longer exists. It was a great resource back when I loaded up my first book and got it ready to go live online back in 2013. Perhaps they realized that they were giving away good content for free and had to pump the brakes on that?? If anyone knows the story, let me know? Have you ever worked on getting a children's book online? Are you a budding author who just launched your book/podcast!? It's important to have all of the social media platforms and build your brand via networking with others. I find great power in the hashtag as well. My hashtags are #LeslieMJasper, #ConstructionTales, and #VerballyDisastrous. Share with me your hashtag and connect with me on social media. If you could also network with my 16-year-old son John's "Call To Action Marketing" business (hashtag #CTAMarketing), that would be helpful and highly appreciated. This post is intended to share even more work of some independent authors, such as myself, and earn some good karma in the process. Why not offer you a taste of a variety of authors with different content? Let me know if you have discovered a new author during this "Showcased Author Series"? My objective is to pick out different authors that offer a variety of media content. For the record, I know nothing about the author other than what is showcased in the author article that was shared, via Awesome Gang. Feel free to copy and paste and share this content on your blog, if you like. As an author, if you want to add more information, drop it down in the comment section below and I will edit and add at my earliest convenience. For now, I'm connecting with the authors in an effort to build my author network. Hopefully, they will follow me back on social media. I'm game to cross promote each other on social media as well. Just let me know or re-tweet one of my posts and I will automatically return the favor on Twitter. I'm totally cool with many ways to help each other market each other. When you are a small content creator, it is important to help others out. I've even submitted #ConstructionTales to both Awesome Gang and Book Reader Magazine recently. I shall also submit my children's book real soon to Awesome Gang and other avenues once it goes live. I'm actually getting excited for the release of this project!! My first children's book #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls is intended to empower young kids to pursue their passions even if it is not normally the tradition in their society.

Do you have any requests for a specific author or style of content? Let me know your various suggestions down the in the comment section below. For now, here are (3) showcased authors down below:
Showcased Author- 1.) Mahayana I. Dugast
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Greetings!
I am what they call middle-aged (lol) with more than 30 years’ experience helping people with their personal development and support them on their spiritual path. I specialize in transmitting techniques and practices to deal with stress, and clear subconscious mental programming that is in the way of success.
I previously wrote three self-help books that reflect the aforementioned and just wrote my first novel, book I of a trilogy.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
It is: Ekstasis – The Return of the Sovereign Heart, an epic metaphysical & visionary tale, and a time travel / suspense romance.
My original inspiration was to write a kind of love story where people are spiritually connected to each other, where sex is sacred, hence the sovereign heart part of the title. But much more than that worked its way into the story as it is inspired by my own guides.
What the editorial and reader reviews mostly convey is that Ekstasis provides healing and transformation through the medium of storytelling, so I am delighted!
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not sure if it is unusual, but I get up at 6 am and write in bed with a coffee every day until 10.30am. Then later again if I have time.
For my previous books, I took to writing absolutely anywhere, on planes, trains and yes, even automobiles while waiting for the kids to finish school or their activities. I found out that I don’t need bags of time as I use to think (which was more of an excuse) or a special place to do some good work.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Aside of all things spiritual (David Deida, Marianne Williamson, Paulo Coelho, etc) I love the Time Traveller’s Wife as a time travel love story, Margaret Attwood The Handmaids Tale (she writes so eloquently) and Stephen King.
I love all books from Marc Levy and Guillaume Musso who are mostly known in France, where I am originally from.
What are you working on now?
Ekstasis book II! 🙂
I love it as I have come to love the characters in this epic story. I’m completely involved with them, and feel hugely responsible for their fates! How exciting.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
There is a video trailer for Ekstasis – The Return of the Sovereign Heart: https://youtu.be/DIh4yBhBOXk
Or direct to my Amazon author page:
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Spot the negative self talk, and get a coach if you need one, I did for my first book, just to keep my writing pace going, and help turn it into a habit.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Read lots! Quote from Stephen King: “If you don’t have time to read, you don’t have time to write.”
What are you reading now?
The City by Dean Koontz – absolutely brilliantly written with goodness oozing out of it, made me cry several times.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Write, read, write, read … 🙂 And start a discussion group for my novel.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
Maybe the Celestine Prophecy (series of 10) and several blank books I can write into!

Showcased Author- 2.) Taylor Claremont
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
As a lifelong reader, I always dreamed of writing my own book. I would start story after story and never finish it, but in 2021, something clicked and I became more intentional about finishing the stories that came to me. In the past year, I’ve written ten novellas.
I’m a homeschooling mom who travels the country with my husband and two daughters. We have three guinea pigs and a dog–our life is a constant web of laughter, tears, confusion, and immeasurable beauty.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The name of my latest book is Something Blue, from the Seaside Point series. It was inspired by a longing for warmer weather and the sound of ocean waves while I sat inside, weathering out one of the coldest winters we’ve had in a long time.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I like to blast music that I feel like listening to, even if it’s starkly different from the mood of the scene I’m writing. If I’m in a high-vibe state, jamming out, my writing productivity goes up exponentially, as compared to listening to something only for the sake of getting myself in a certain frame of mind.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
While my writing differs greatly from these two, Deborah Harkness and Brian Jacques were the two primary authors that influenced me to write. Their command of language and captivating styles really made stories come alive for me.
What are you working on now?
At the moment, I’m working on a novel about a girl named Georgia Pines, inspired by the sweet, frank nature found in Anne of Green Gables.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still pretty new to the game and have been relying on keyword research and word of mouth to promote my books.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
My favorite rhythm is “write and read”. I write a book and then read a book. This helps me hone my craft and allows me to get out of my own head for a bit before starting a new project.
Another piece of advice would be to finish one project before undertaking another one. When the inevitable shiny new ideas come to you, jot them down in a place you’ll easily find them later (my favorite is Google Docs so I can write from my phone). Any ideas that comes to you for that project keep in that one singular place, but don’t let the ideas form into a full project until you’ve finished the one you’re currently working on.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Write! It’s easy for authors to get caught up in all the little aspects of things – the double-edged sword of having such an active imagination! Put pen to paper, or fingers to keys, and let the words flow out of you.
What are you reading now?
Right now, I’m reading When Breath Becomes Air and Atomic Habits.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m working on writing novels instead of novellas and building up the confidence to get my name, and my books, out in the world on a larger scale.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
I would definitely bring the All Souls Trilogy. They’re the only books I can read repeatedly and never tire of. In the last few years, I’ve started a tradition of re-reading them every autumn and I always find something new within their pages.

Showcased Author- 3.) Bentley Turner
Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I was born in Kentucky, but I have lived in Tennessee for decades. I started writing fiction when I was in high school. However, my first short stories were not published until I was an undergraduate in college. Since then I have written THE FILE ON THOMAS MARKS, a mystery that was published in 2021, and THE PRIZE WINNERS AND OTHER STORIES, which was just published by the Global Publishing Group. Another mystery, A KILLING IN OKLAHOMA, should be published later this year.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
THE PRIZE WINNERS AND OTHER STORIES is my latest book. A collection, the stories were inspired by my experiences and, of course, my imagination. Several of the stories were discussed by groups of others before they were included in the collection. Other stories were written much later.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I try to write or work on what I’ve written several hours every day. Of course, I don’t believe this is unusual.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’ve been reading others for decades, so this is difficult to answer. However, I have enjoyed reading James M. Cain, Ernest Hemingway, John O’Hara, John D. MacDonald, Linwood Barclay, John Grisham, Sidney Sheldon, and numerous others.
What are you working on now?
The first page proofs of A KILLING IN OKLAHOMA.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I try to employ several websites, not just one or two. I also approach reviewers. In some instances, I contact editors of newspapers and magazines, not to mention librarians who work at public libraries.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
If you are serious, read as much as you can. If you write mysteries, read mysteries. If you write sci-fi, read sci-fi. Try to read the so-called masters in addition to the writers writing today. And notice the differences between them. If possible, take one or more courses in creative writing at a college or university. You’ll be surprised what your classmates will say about your writing.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
If you are serious about becoming a writer, try to get published. If your work is rejected, keep submitting it. In other words, don’t give up.
What are you reading now?
Five or six books. Two or three are collections of short stories by a single author. The other books are nonfiction.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I am writing a book of nonfiction for an academic publisher.
If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?
The Bible, Youngblood Hawke, From the Terrace, and Double Indemnity.

I recently shared my latest short story that has been loaded up to my Construction Tales-Told By A Woman Kindle Vella Library on Amazon. This is short story #11 entitled, "Juggling Motherhood & Working With The Tools". This short story covers my life as a widowed, single mother in the era when I juggled both motherhood and my career as a journeywoman electrician. I share the various challenges I faced and lessons learned along the way. The previous short story is entitled: #10: "Early Life Lessons & Characters To Meet As An Apprentice". I decided to write about some life lessons such as guarding your personal information, managing nasty rumors, combating sexual harassment, gender discrimination, and racism. Overall, the construction culture has improved dramatically over the past 25-years. Developing both a thick skin and a sharp tongue are key tools needed to survive various jobsite antics. I hope you learn something from this short story. There are more to come. These short stories are now also available as Verbally Disastrous podcast episodes.
