Advice: Does Blocking Someone Make You A Passive Aggressive Coward??
Hello Everyone!
I hope you do not get too wasted tonight for happy hour on this glorious Saint Patrick's Day!? New York City is the spot where we all celebrate this holiday in full force. You become Irish for the day even if you are not really. I found out that my paternal great grandmother came from Ireland. For many years, I just thought I was a mix of Swedish, Danish, Dutch, etc. I plan on getting together with my eldest son and some fellow journeymen electricians for a Saint Patrick's parade on Saturday. I assume it will be fun and plenty of memories will be made. My co-host and close friend Melissa may drive down and join me for happy hour today. What are you weekend Saint Patrick plans? I just wish for you to be safe whatever is it that you choose to do. For this blog post, I'm sharing with you another piece of Quora advice that would be frustrating for me to experience in real life to be quite frank. This subject is on a writer asking as to whether or not their choice to block a person makes them a passive aggressive coward. Many passive aggressive people are absolute pricks!! They try to hide behind their aggressions with snarky nonsense and opt to rattle the chains of others. We all need to put on our big girl/boy pants on when we troll people on the internet. Even if you are not trolling, your differing opinion will ruffle another person's feathers. It's like why even play the role of captain debater if you can't even handle the responses?? I think a person who holds a strong opinion yet can't deal with their feet being held to the fire are absolute fools!! I appreciate people who finish what they started. Even if it feels super awkward and uncomfortable. If you are going to off a strong opinions, you need to at least hear and consider the opposing side. Why think that you are the only person who has an opinion? Let me know if you have ever had to deal with a person who writes a check that their ass simply can't cash down in the comment section below? If you disagree with my interpretation, let me know how you would interpret it? I would be very interested in your take especially if it is the total opposite of mine. Please read the posed question and my response down below:
POSED QUESTION:
"Does blocking someone make you a passive-aggressive coward?" -By Smokingbaby00
MY RESPONSE:
"Well, there are a few ways to look at this style of move. In the big scheme of things in life, fighting on the internet with strangers should not be a stress to have added into your life. Especially true if the stress impacts your health. However, opting to go rattle a person’s cage on the internet is a mess that many people manage to get themselves into on a regular basis. If you open the dialogue, then you should finish it or bow out gracefully with a “agree to disagree”. If you pose a counter argument with any type of stranger on the internet, expect for them to be irrational and come at you with the smoke. Just know that there are people who can take your comments to the highest degree of offense as possible. You may interact with some real psychos out there! Psychos that are willing to go the distance with releasing your personal information on the internet and even showing up at your house with a baseball bat. Before even engaging in sensitive topics online, ask yourself if you can even handle that kind of smoke before you even push the “send” button? Just expect a response to your comments. If you don’t want to read the response right away, you don’t have to do it. Feel free to sit on the information and think about how you are going to articulate your next counter argument. Sometimes a breather is needed to digest the comment and formulate your rebuttal. If you just respond with blocking that person, you just allowed them to win the argument. After all, if you started the mess, you damn well better finish it. Why waste anyone’s time if your response to conflict is to block a person? Why did you even verbally step into the ring with the contender if you can’t handle the hits? If you navigate through the internet like that, it’s no surprise that you are a terrible communicator in you personal life. How do you even survive in a relationship with challenges? My guess is that you don’t. You allow them to spin and burn out of control with unresolved issues then shut down and walk away. Yes, you indeed look like the passive-aggressive coward in my opinion. I’m sure this isn’t new information. The goal should be to work on strengthening your weaknesses and do better in the future. I wish you much luck! #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous” -By Leslie M. Jasper

I recently shared my latest short story that has been loaded up to my Construction Tales-Told By A Woman Kindle Vella Library on Amazon. This is short story #11 entitled, "Juggling Motherhood & Working With The Tools". This short story covers my life as a widowed, single mother in the era when I juggled both motherhood and my career as a journeywoman electrician. I share the various challenges I faced and lessons learned along the way. The previous short story is entitled: #10: "Early Life Lessons & Characters To Meet As An Apprentice". I decided to write about some life lessons such as guarding your personal information, managing nasty rumors, combating sexual harassment, gender discrimination, and racism. Overall, the construction culture has improved dramatically over the past 25-years. Developing both a thick skin and a sharp tongue are key tools needed to survive various jobsite antics. I hope you learn something from this short story. There are more to come. These short stories are now also available as Verbally Disastrous podcast episodes.
