Advice On Speaking Your Truth And The Fear Of Speaking Up
Hello Everyone!
How are you dedicating your Saturday evening!? The temperature here in New York City have plummeted!! It is the season where the best activities, besides snowboarding, are all inside for the next few months. With that said, I'm going back to painting as my winter time hobby. Keep remaining safe, happy, and healthy during this perilous time with this Omicron variant. Guess who found some questions on Quora for us to chew on?? Yeah, I found a rather interesting question. It may be the most appealing question so far that has been requested. This question is on the topic of revealing the truth and saying what you want. The question probes even further with asking what is to be feared? I know how I felt on this topic has drastically changed since I was 18-years old. I used to feel that the truth was paramount and the absolute truth was necessary. People who spin the truth absolutely rattle my cage!! One thing I started watching on YouTube are Catfish video clips. It boggles my mind how someone would choose to go to great lengths to deceive others on the internet. It is absolutely disgusting behavior that should be avoided at all costs! Thankfully, I'm way too cheap to be fleeced by an online predator. I can't imagine giving a person money much less asking in real life. However, as I have gotten older, I have realized that sometimes the truth is not necessarily the most important thing. Sometimes winning the morality war doesn't win when going the distance. Some people just don't have the emotional maturity to properly articulate what is exactly on their mind. For some, it is way easier to tell falsehoods and spin webs versus laying one's vulnerability on the table to reveal the truth. When everyone alienates you, since they anticipate being called out on their nonsense, you have to ask yourself if it is worth it? Instead, is it better to let people spin their webs, you merely arm yourself with the data, and work to limit your interactions with that said person. Your truth is not going to change the hearts of these deceptive people. Instead, the only thing that happens is that you become the person known for making a "citizen's arrest". The worst part is exposing another person for their nonsense and the morality needle doesn't move a hair. You have to ask yourself if it was even worth it? Let people be the lying pieces of garbage that they are if it doesn't harm you. Stressing yourself out due to another person's mess is pointless and not necessary. Just cut them off or limit your interactions with them. I'm sure for others it doesn't take them much time to figure out that another person is a walking falsehood. Don't give too much energy to liars out there. Save your energy for building your empire. I've also learned that my culture is not the only one on the planet. I'm aware that my culture dictates how I think and how I conduct myself on particular topics regardless of logic. This is why and how a person navigates around the truth. How I would approach the truth while standing here in New York City is way different than a man would who stands in India. It's important to think about that when you are questioning a person's motive. May you align yourself with good people in your life. Now, here is the posed question and my response below:
POSED QUESTION:
"Why do you never say what you really want? What are you afraid of?" -By Sachin Dabodiya
MY RESPONSE:
"Over the years, as I have spent time here on the planet, I have been guilty in the past of speaking the bold face truth and forcing others to no longer hide in dark corners where secrets lurk. I believe my morality needle is not far from reality and I follow a logical, step-by-step thought process. I had a tendency to call people out on their poor words and actions when I was younger. Sometimes it served me well, since it was “right”, and sometimes it absolutely didn’t since the truth is painful and not pleasant to sit in. These people dodge a relationship since they anticipate being called out in the future. After awhile, I have learned many lessons as to the proper timing to expose the truth, when to fall back, or if the truth is even necessary to expose. It’s frustrating since many people behave in a way yet do not stand by their behavior either minutes and/or years later. There also has to be a time when you let the past behaviors go since they can be unsettling on the soul of both parties. You have to ask if the truth adds value to your life? What is gained? In a world that is loaded with billions of people, we all view life through a lens that formed from unique life experiences. Because of these different experiences, we all view different opinions and ways of conducting life differently. People have different levels of sensitivity. More importantly, people react differently to the truth and are incapable of owning the truth. Yes, we were all told as kids to be honest. As you get older, you realize that the truth is not as highly desired as what was taught to us. We also learn, over time, as to who can accept the truth and who is not so receptive. We also have to learn that there comes a crossroads with either being right or having peace. Which road do you prefer to travel? If you upset a person for telling the truth and they alienate you, did you really “win”? Telling the truth can be morally sound. The truth can clear a conscience and establish trust. On the other hand, the truth can drive a wedge in relationships, become sandpaper on delicate skin, or cause you to lose opportunities either personally and/or even professionally. You can gain about as much as you can lose by telling the truth. Sadly, you need to know what strategically works and doesn’t work in your life. Some truths only serve to pierce the heart like a sword. Other truths open up the veils of secrecy and deceit. If the truth serves nothing other than to wrangle a person’s emotions, is the reveal truly necessary? If the truth avoids deceiving another soul, then screw a person’s emotions. We then must think about the many grey areas of truth and how a person’s culture impacts their own belief system. Some truths are not always black and white. Are there truths that can swing wildly based upon perception? Can a story shift based upon the perception held by either party? Is being right more important than love or peace? After years of experience, it can be reckless to just say what you want to say. You must ask yourself what purpose does freely speaking serve? Are you hurting someone in the process? Meanwhile, the needle of morality does not even move a hair. If so, was revealing the truth merely serving your ego? Is telling the truth keeping an innocent man from going to prison? Does the truth reveal the harm from another person? Now, what is the cost of telling the truth? If there is a heavy cost with revealing a truth, it’s reasonable to see why the truth is withheld. Once a door of truth is opened, it cannot be closed with life going back to normal. In some unique instances, the truth can have dire consequences. Telling a man that his wife is cheating on him is the right thing. One would rethink that reveal if he then chooses to end her life due to her infidelity. It is all about culture and what you value. In some parts of the world, they would believe that the death of the cheating wife would be justified. The culture would believe that the truth should be revealed as well as the resulting consequences. On my side of the planet, it would be believed that it was safer to stay out of their marriage and let them work out their own issues. I will go one step further and say that we would support having the couple part ways from each other and offer support to ensure she remains safe from her husband. Many truths can be about perspective and where you come from on the planet and what culture you align yourself with that dictates your actions. If you are okay with any consequences that come as a result of holding the torch of truth, by all means go for it. However, I understand the need to dodge consequences that may come as a result of a deep secret being revealed. I also understand removing yourself from affairs that are not your business no matter how truly disgusting they may be. I wish you much success with navigating life while standing in your truth and standing for what you believe in." -By Leslie M. Jasper

Short story #10 is entitled, "Early Life Lessons & Characters To Meet As An Apprentice". I released short story #10 that is now live. If anyone has read any of my other short stories, by all means, let me know what you think? I'm working on some upcoming podcast guests for the beginning of the Year 2022. I have an acquaintance who is a practicing Satanist. I have sent out the questions so he/she can prepare for the interview. At some point, I want to chat with him about his recent choice to transition from a man to a woman. I'm interested in this topic since it is a topic that I don't know much about. I intend on getting an education for us on this discussion topic in the near future. I need more time to heal up from being sick. Additionally, he/she has had to step up with shifts due to co-workers being out due to illness. Stay tuned for an upcoming podcast release that will kick off Season #2. Thankfully, I'm feeling much better these days so I need to get back into creating content. Melissa and I need to find time to get together and discuss our impending topic on our most embarrassing moments. It's now time for me to continue working on some projects that have been on the back burner. Now go carry on with your Saturday plans now that we have reached the weekend. I wish you a great morning/afternoon/evening on your side of the globe and a restful or productive day!

I just shared my latest short story that has been loaded up to my Construction Tales-Told By A Woman Kindle Vella Library on Amazon. This is short story #10 entitled, "Early Life Lessons & Characters To Meet As An Apprentice". This short story covers some initial life lessons such as guarding your personal information, managing nasty rumors, combating sexual harassment, gender discrimination, and racism. Overall, the construction culture has improved dramatically over the past 25-years. Developing both a thick skin and a sharp tongue are key tools needed to survive various jobsite antics. The previous short story is entitled: #9: "I'm Working On The Railroad With The Tools As A Chick!". I decided to write about some stories from when I worked with the tools on the railroad. I shared a story of saving a co-worker from a near death experience! I hope you learn something from this short story. There are more to come. This short story is now also available as (2) Verbally Disastrous podcast episodes.
