Hello Everyone!
On a whim, I opted to write out a poem and share it with you in this blog post for my pals out here. It is another cold and windy NYC Friday afternoon- trying to be nice and productive regardless!! I ended up on antibiotics due to some lung problem- I was just not in the mood to do much but survive and get better. I hope you are doing well!?? Before I dive into this poem blog post, let us review my "Leslie ad". I have to promote myself since no one else will...lol! Just in case you have not read any of my previous posts, Anchor.fm is no longer electronically converting this written blog to an audio MP3 form automatically. When this old lady finds the time, I will find the most cost effective way to convert my written blog into an MP3 format. In the past, a lot of my free time had been dedicated to creating my Construction Tales Safety Topic YouTube videos. The video format can be found on Verbally Disastrous channel on YouTube. Meanwhile, the audio version can be found on my Verbally Disastrous Spotify channel. These safety topic videos have been also loaded up to more than 20 podcast platforms- including Apple Podcasts. My current project, known as the "$ugar Momma Baddie" themed clothing and accessory collection, is available on both Spring and Shopify ecommerce platforms. I have to revisit the whole trademark task that I had started, got busy, and dropped the ball. While I am at it, the links for the paperback, e-book, and now audio version for my first children's book that's entitled, "Not All Girls Play With Dolls" are also down below in this blog post. Both my first children's book and my #ConstructionTales book are available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, iTunes, and Audible. The audio versions of both of my books can be found in four Audible markets that include: France, Dutch, U.K., and the United States. I am applying for WBE certification lately for multiple arenas so that has taken up the bulk of my free time. I just submitted the last one so I'm awaiting for approval and taking free classes to learn how to get into this arena correctly. Of course, I will be writing blogs on how to do the same thing that I am doing right now. This is another exciting thing that I'm moving full steam ahead. This is why my other projects have been on the back burner. You had to know that I was up to something if I'm not blogging. I'm building a second Tik Tok page by loading up job videos. I have been slowly also loading them to YouTube as well. Now that I've finished up my "Leslie's book and podcast ad", let's get into the whole purpose of this blog post via this first poem:
"It's that first stolen glance, the matching, hearty yet nervous laughs, endless chatter to fill the new void, and that inquisitive dive into the depths of two souls. This new journey is fire lit and paved with sheer desire. In the back seat of the mind vehicle, is a sense of sound logic says to hold back and go nice and slow. Exercise great caution while on the hunt for red flags like the Chinese military. The carnal sense of desire pushes away those thoughts away as just fleeting unimportant thoughts for the moment. Over time, the matching desire appears to progress towards heights never yet reached. Then all of a sudden, like a strong wind that blows through the window, the candles on a romantically laden table blow out. What is the source of that strong wind? That strong wind is the turbulant swirls of overwhelming fear and doubt of the unknown. Meanwhile, each of us have an unseen hourglass with a specific amount of sand left in the upper portion of the hour glass in our back pocket. We can't see it but we know it is there. Do you roll the dice like a high roller at a high stakes Las Vegas gaming table and go all in? Do you direct the twister of fear and doubt towards your foundation and rip apart what you have labored over and give up? Was that magical journey into exchanged discovery even real in the first place? Was it just a clever ruse to lure the unsuspecting person into a trap for personal gain? Once the mission of deceit was accomplished, was that person discarded like a rock into the bottom of the lake? Was the unsuspecting fool gently placed on the shelf for future gratification? Is the high of the lock of the eyes in that first encounter as potent as the first dose h@roin?? That person doesn't mind sitting idly on the shelf dangling their feet carefree with the highest hopes of being summoned for once again that dance with the devil. As gravity pulls the sand of that hourglass, the dream of that next dance is dashed. What happened to the sheet music that guides the flow and direction of that next dance? Why did the flame burn even out? Why is the person dangling on the shelf now writhing in pain due to agonizing withdrawal symptoms from missing that next promised dance? It's hard to breathe sometimes due to the pain. Did that person ever have intentions on ever returning? Did they just allow fear to take over the wheel of the bus. Does that person love their own personal demons way more than that lovely, kind hearted soul waiting patiently on the shelf? How much time has passed? How many worthy dance partners has that person sitting on the shelf let walk past them? Will they ever learn to dance again like before while trusting their dance partner won't let them fall in front of the crowd. How long do the withdrawal symptoms last? Is the previous pain going to make the person on the shelf turn to stone before dying? Only emotionally healthy dance partners should be allowed on the dance floor. It's selfish and not fair to the crowd waiting on the sideline for a shot to try that new country line dance. It's emotionally manipulative to think that you can put someone on a shelf with no explanation and act like sand didn't drip from the hourglass of life."
This is what I have for you with my rough draft of my poem. Obviously, this poem is based upon my past experiences and the pain that accompanies those emotions. I welcome feedback and encouragement. I shared my last short story release that has been loaded up to my Construction Tales-Told By A Woman Kindle Vella Library on Amazon. This is short story #11 entitled, "Juggling Motherhood & Working With The Tools". This short story covers my life as a widowed, single mother in the era when I juggled both motherhood and my career as a journeywoman electrician. I share the various challenges I faced and lessons learned along the way. The previous short story is entitled: #10: "Early Life Lessons & Characters To Meet As An Apprentice". I decided to write about some life lessons such as guarding your personal information, managing nasty rumors, combating sexual harassment, gender discrimination, and racism. Overall, the construction culture has improved dramatically over the past 25-years. Developing both a thick skin and a sharp tongue are key tools needed to survive various jobsite antics.
