We spent two nights a week for a little over 5 years together in a classroom. Now we have all gotten married, had children, aged, and went on your own separate ways. I'm Engaged for Christmas 2015!!!

Hello everyone! I want to share that I am officially engaged to Curtis Stakley! We are planning on getting married in September of 2015 at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut. I have no idea any details other than the venue. I am hoping to keep it as simple as possible. I would just elope but my family wants to see me get married. I did elope at 18 years old just out of the military. My sister and other family members remind me that I didn't let them experience watching me get married. Anyone who has read the book knows my husband died in a motorcycle accident back in 1996. It took me many years to get my mind right in order to date again. I never figured I would get married again. I would have never guessed in a million years that my boyfriend would become my husband. After experiencing the trials of a young marriage and an untimely death, my mind was closed off to ever doing that again. He is one special guy to break through that wall. I have to close the chapter on that experience and not allow myself to use it as the metric for what married life would be. I believe we are truly friends and partners in life.

Bookarma- Have a New Author Profile

Hello everyone! I decided to give Bookarma a try. www.bookarma.com is a website where you belong to a group of authors who all promote each other. Here is the link: https://bookarma.net/my-books I periodically will try to promote other authors in an attempt to gain points. These points will help me promote my own book. I decided to give it a try and see if it helps the book. Worst case I can give it a few months and then stop the subscription if I do not think it helps. The holidays are here and consume a huge amount of my time. I am in the last class for what is known as BIM certification. I have been at it two nights a week for a few months. BIM stands for Building Information Modeling. It is the three dimensional blueprinting used nowadays on big construction sites. My shop uses it for a lot of it's projects in New York City. I plan to keep practicing and use it for work in the near future. Now that I am wrapping up this course, I will have more time to dedicate to writing and promoting the book. I also need to dedicate some time to the new adventure that I am beginning. I have recently gotten engaged to my boyfriend, Curtis. I will be starting the transition of selling my house and building my life with him. We are loosely planning a summer wedding. I have not locked down a date, as of yet. My future husband is very motivated and I am sure he will be eager to help make this transition happen smoothly and soon. I must go back to paying attention to my last class. Update- Chief Sitting Bull's Reading Review

Hello everyone, I went right over to Chief Sitting Bull's desk to harass him about his thoughts on the book. I figured he had cracked it open at least once during the long Thanksgiving break. He said he liked the kiss shared by two construction workers in a high end banking institution building. He asked me if they really did kiss in the cafeteria. I reassured him that the two seasoned silver haired fellas did indeed share a very public kiss. The receiver of the kiss was off the ground flailing his hands and legs wildly during the exposition. I never seen so many suits with their jaws dropped in my entire life. It was definitely worth the price of admission. Chief said that he is enjoying the book and looks forward to reading more about the crazy characters. He almost doesn't believe that these guys really did their antics. As strange and crazy as their antics seem, they are indeed real life past events. I am just glad that I have a great memory and can remember these funny details. Hello everyone, I was talking to my brother-in-law, Nick Jasper, over the holiday weekend. He said to reach out to acting forums in an effort to find a screenwriter. I want to get a screenwriter to develop the book into a movie or tv series. I'm starting out with some forums for actors and tv industry people. I will keep working until I reach someone who is interested. I can be reached from most any form of social media that I have for the book. I had one tv producer interested. He works on cop and fireman shows. His people are not ambitious enough to take on the project. However, he said that his contacts were interested and gave good feedback. New Chief Sitting Bull Update

Hello everyone! Chief Sitting Bull came by my desk to briefly discuss my book and his readings at lunch time. He said he really enjoys the character Tazz in the book. He is enjoying him immensely. Finds him crazy and daring. He was astonished at the things that come out of his mouth. He spoke about how Tazz pursued a woman at work. He found him brave and quite amazing. I almost think he is his new hero. He said he is eager to keep reading. I told him that is good since blog readers everywhere are awaiting new updates! I won't see him until Monday. Book Review Update- Chief Sitting Bull

Hello everyone! I met up with Chief Sitting Bull to ask him how the book reading process is coming along. I am following a coworker in the office who reads my book daily at lunch. I told him he is famous all over the world due to his decision to read the book and give daily feedback. This overview has covered his reading for the past two days. He was fond of reading about these two journeymen electricians on a job. I was the apprentice on the job and would work with either man during the day. They had two totally different approaches to their work day. They happened to have the same name so one was coined ‘hard’ and the other as ‘soft’. Chief Sitting Bull was taken aback by their approach when dealing with me on the job. At first, Chief Sitting Bull thought they were not aware of a major life changing event that happened to me earlier that year (must read the book to find that out). I revealed that they all indeed did know of what happened to me. Chief Sitting Bull did not approve of how they behaved towards me. I told him that was how the business was during that time. Their sentiment was that I was a woman in a man’s world. I didn’t belong in their world. Just because I had a major tragedy occur, it was not an excuse to slack off. They were very tough on me. That form of tough love did whip me into shape. I knew that readers would not be fond of their treatment towards me. He then told me he is reading the Big Job chapter. He loves reading about this character, named Tazz. His other favorite character is Stacey and her crazy antics. He says their behavior in the book is right on track with what his expectations of what construction workers are like. He told me he looks forward to reading the book at lunch time. I am going to harass him later today after lunch to see how the reading is going. I think my daily badgering has motivated him to read even more. He finds me funny at work and looks forward to reading more to get his additional doses of humor. It makes for great discussions at work! Co-worker Reading Construction Tales-Provide Review as He Reads

Hello everyone! I work with a rather funny coworker who discovered that I wrote a book from other coworkers. He ran over to me and eagerly bought my book as soon as he heard the rumor. I told him I want a review. Better yet, I will pick his brain as he reads it. He is up to page 8 currently. He was surprised to learn that I was in the military. He said he can see my personality in the first few pages. He is looking forward to reading it since he likes my lively personality. He says that he has a sense of who I am. He is looking forward to gaining more insight as he reads more of the book. I will give him the nickname of Chief Sitting Bull. This is what comes to mind when I see him. Chapter 7 Book Clip- Working With A Chauvinist Pig

I will never forget my first day meeting Chester on a job in White Plains. He shook my hand and commented on my ‘manly’ handshake. Chester then explained, in a long, dragged out theatrical manner, to me that there were two things that just don’t happen. There is no crying in baseball and there are no women in construction. As soon as I heard this come out of his mouth, I thought to myself that this is going to be a very tough job to work on. Imagine a guy who is very tall with a big basketball for a belly that he rubs often. Chester has a giant head of curly salt and pepper hair with an overgrown mustache and a five o’clock shadow. Chester usually wore a cheap netted baseball hat, worn out solid color t-shirts, ragged Dockers pleated knit pants, and moccasins. He does look like an odd character when you first see him and definitely when he opens his mouth and talks to people. When Chester latches onto someone, he usually makes a statement and will walk back and forth repeating that statement. His repeated statements were intended to take a swipe and zing someone. I came onto a job and there were a few workers. One guy who introduced himself was a short and muscular black guy named "Bob" on the job. Bob was very nice and explained what we were working on in the space. I first get there and I am given a very easy task to work on. This was because they didn’t trust the new girl helper on the job at all. After awhile, I was gradually trusted more and more as time went along. That is one thing that I still face in this business. Each new job I come to, I meet the new foreman who is gun shy about giving me work that requires skills. The good news is I usually end up on a job with guys I have worked with before. This and my accumulated reputation for being a good, competent worker will sometimes follow me and help me out. For the most part, I wasn’t fortunate enough to have my reputation follow me. I had to work very hard to create this working reputation and win over this guy who clearly didn’t like me from the beginning......... Hello everyone! You just read a chapter clip from Construction Tales. I had it in one of the first posts in this blog. I figured it needed to be located a little closer to the top. Despite the title of the chapter, the ending was positive and bittersweet. I was on the same job when he was retiring. I don't want to spoil the ending so I will leave it with that. New Book I'm Planning on Writing- Transcending Against All Odds

Hello everyone I wanted to share with you all my recent project that I plan to write. I started to write my second volume, Construction Tales: My Illuminated Path Continues... However, after speaking to a few people, I decided to change gears. My books on women in construction are unique in nature. I've been told literary agents do not know who my audience would be composed of. Taking a risk on the unknown is a fear in the movie and book industry. I had a tv producer interested. He said he received no negative feedback from his movie contacts. However, they are successful re-hashing cop and fireman shows. Not a risk they are willing to take. I was advised to write a different type of book in order to gain an agent. It seems like a good decision since it is good to go in a different direction and tap into a different type of reader base. My book that I plan to write will be entitled,Transcend Against All Odds. My son, Tom, came up with the title. He says it describes our lives growing up together. I married his father young who also died when Tom was a baby. I had a difficult road to survive and keep our heads above water. His goal is for us to get matching tattoos that say that. I asked him what he thought of the title. He was flattered and honored that I would use the title. He knows quite well that my childhood was difficult in nature. The book will be based on my childhood. However, I will be making the book a work of fiction. This book will cover a young girl's life path enduring an abusive home life. This little girl watched her mother receive regular beatings from her father. This girl grew up poor with parents who were also neglected as kids. The little girl had parents who were selfish in nature and did not know how to express love. The little girl goes through a divorce that rocks her world. Despite the abusive home life, she knew the transition disrupted her fragile sense of security. The girl encounters jealous and strict step parents. This young woman escapes her abusive home life in exchange for a military career. I am hoping it will be a book many people can relate to with their own lives. IPR LICENSE MAGAZINE AD-FRANKFORT BOOK FAIR FOR 2014

Taking a BIM (Building Information Modeling) Course Until December 2014

Hello everyone! I am in the middle of taking a course that is offered through my union hall. I am a member of Local #3 IBEW out of New York City, Westchester County, and Fairfield County, Connecticut. I hold an E-2 electrical license for the state of Connecticut. I did not mention it in my book but I am indeed a proud union member. I never wanted to take the chance of angering the powers at be, within my organization, upon discovering being mentioned in the book. I did not want to take the risk of mentioning my union in the book so I left that out. Therefore, I did not mention my union affiliation or any contractors that I have worked for in the past. My last time I worked with the electrical tools was in March of 2014. My shop ran out of funds for the work we had on the horizon. To my dismay, I had to choose on what to do. I could have taken some time off or jump ship and ask for a layoff. However, that is not the correct union way to take time off. I chose to close my eyes and take a leap of faith. It was right around this time when I was told about this field engineering job opportunity. I was nervous about applying since I never did that type of work in my life. My fear was to jump ship and this opportunity would pass me by due to not being qualified. Then again, if I stayed on the list waiting for a job, I was looking at over 2 years before I would take on another electrician job. I guess I had nothing to lose. This fact did not ease the fear of starting something new in the least bit. I took on the interview and did my best to prove that I was ready and able to learn and become the best at my new job. After a few months of waiting, I was called in for a second interview. I had a less than stellar interview with a project manager boss. I figured that I blew the interview over my butting of heads with the project manager boss. He was asking me questions that I didn't need to know as a project manager. I knew the answers but I refused to answer them since he was trying to embarrass me. He then tried to cut my head off in front of the boss. I calmly shut him down in front of the boss. I could tell that the boss was highly amused by my drive and determination. To my surprise, I was assigned on the spot to learn Auto-CAD by the boss. I was so thrilled at the receipt of this new job!! Not so long afterwards, fear set in. I knew it was game on and I needed to learn fast in order to get past the training phase and be hired on permanently. All I had to do was pay attention...INTENTLY!!! My job has trained me to work in Auto-CAD. It is a computer program that develops blueprints for jobsites. Our jobs in NYC are large in size and budget. Since I work for a large electrical contractor, they can afford to train people. All I had when I got hired on was my field experience as an electrician. I have been now printing out blueprints for about six months now. To my surprise and advantage, I learned very quickly how to navigate through the program. Auto-CAD seemed overwhelming at first. I was able to learn one step at a time....and it came to me!!! Every once in awhile I will run into an issue that I must request guidance. For the most part, I am able to figure out the program on my own. Now that I have learned 2 dimensional blueprinting, it is time for me to learn 3 dimensional. The concept of viewing blueprints like a video game is called BIM aka Building Information Modeling. This certification is state of the art and needed to work within my shop. Some jobs require some form of BIM work in the engineering process. This program is somewhat similar to Auto-CAD but very different. I am learning both Revit and Navisworks. The two work together in an effort to take all elements of a construction job and mesh them all together. The idea is to be able to visually see a finished project of a construction job and plan accordingly. This is supposed to save tremendous amounts of time and money. This is especially true for multi-million dollar projects. I am in week #3 of learning the program. I have another 6 weeks to go. I am fortunate that I have access to the programs at work. I will even be able to apply what I have learned while at work. My goal is to become the best I can be at this job. I must go back to paying attention in class. Perdue Engineering Professor Has My Book- My Cousin Spotted It On His Cart

Hello everyone! My cousin, Kristina, is a grad student at Perdue University in Indiana. She told me that she saw an engineering professor carrying my Construction Tales book on his cart. She approached him and told him her cousin is the author of the book. The professor was surprised and didn't think she was serious at first. I think she was pleasantly surprised to see it pop up out of nowhere as well. It was a surprise to hear the report on my book sighting as well. Career Discussion With Girls Today Leaders Tomorrow in Valley Forge, PA Had an Impact!!

Hello Everyone!!

I wanted to share with you about my recent trip to Pennsylvania this weekend. I traveled with a fellow union electrician and friend, Amber Ray, to the Valley Forge Girls Scouts Headquarters on Saturday.  We spoke to girls involved in the Girls Today Leaders Tomorrow mentoring program.  We were invited by AFL-CIO Philly Rep, Nicole Fuller, to speak about our electrical careers to a group of 100 young ladies.  My friend was very nervous about how we would work out on speaking together for the first time (she didn't want to screw up). I think we covered a lot of ground in 30 minutes and gave the girls a view of what they would expect.

We spoke about our careers, how much money and benefits you can make in the trade, what to expect, and how to conduct themselves. Their personal biz should be kept private since that molds their working reputation. We spoke about using humor to help deal with negative coworkers.  Another important topic would be to never give up or give anyone the satisfaction of quitting. We told them men will give you a pass if you work hard and as a team.  Learn very aspect of the job and become the smartest member of the crew.

I spoke about the teen version of my book and passed out promo material. I am hoping for a review on my book.  I felt just as empowered giving young girls tips on how to enter our trade and how to navigate. I thank those people who asked us to speak to the girls. I would love to inspire others at venues in the future. I felt welcomed by Nicole and Emily at the event.  I look forward to working with Nicole on other events in the future! It was a great day and I hope we impacted a young woman's life!!

Mindset Towards Women in U.S.- Behind the Times!!

Hello everyone!

I made a statement without really knowing it in the office this week. I have never been one to play a helpless role or ask for help. If I am capable, I will do the task at hand.  We run out of water in the office. Therefore,  when I discover no water, I pitch in and make it happen.  I guess a lot of people were highly impressed with my strength.  I was told by multiple people how they were amazed that I pack a water cooler jug like it is paper. I did find it amusing to see how it effected people.  I've only been doing engineering/AutoCAD work for about 6 months now. Prior to that,  I always had to be physically ready for my job in the electrical field. I would not have earned respect of the crew if I did not step up and handle my job.  It is what I know to do. Besides, when I was a kid, my dad always told me that I was capable of anything.  He said my strength and smarts could help me do things better than the guys.

After thinking about the water cooler incident,  it kind of makes me sad. I live and work near New York City. My area is up to date on fashion,  technology,  scientific research, etc. However,  out mindset towards women's capabilities is that of a 3rd world nation. Women are not perceived as strong or capable of doing complex tasks. The difference here is that you get the opportunity to do a job.  If you can't hack the work, you will just be always unemployed. It just makes me amused to see how shocked people are at a woman who has strength or doesn't act helpless. We have some work in our society in order to advance away from the caveman mentality.

Guest Speaker- Girl Scouts of Pennsylvania Saturday October 11, 2014

Hello everyone!

I am proud to say I will be a guest speaker with a fellow female electrician, Amber Ray, to a group of 100 young Girl Scouts from Pennsylvania. A rep from the organization reached out to a rep for AFL-CIO to gain some women in the construction field to talk to the girls about what it is like in the trades. I plan to tell the girls about my experiences and talk about my teen version of my book. The teen version is entitled, Construction Tales: A Young Person's Guide to Accomplish Anything in Life. Frankfurt Book Fair- October 8-12 2014

Oregon Vineyard- HV Cellars Has Best Tasting Blackberry Wine!

Hello everyone,

I became friendly with an owner of an Oregon vineyard. My sister picks blackberries for the vineyard in order to score some extra cash. My sister introduced me to Evelyn Luce. She is a wonderful woman to chat with on the phone. She was kind to send me some samples of wine. I hooked up a wine party with a few of my friends. I had Oregon Blackberry, Pinot Noir, and Oregon Chardonnay to try. All the ladies loved the Oregon Blackberry the most!!!  New Yorkers do not have access to blackberries. They are expensive in the store. Meanwhile,  blackberries grow like wild since they are thorny weeds in Oregon. The group are not red wine drinkers so they did not like the Pinot Noir at all. The chardonnay was sweet with a vanilla aftertaste. They liked the chardonnay but the Oregon Blackberry was the front runner. I am excited for the vineyard that their products were so well received! I was energized and would love to help them find a New York distributor for their wine.

Attempting to Donate Construction Tales to Library in Hollywood and Miami, Florida

Hello everyone!

I stopped by the Hollywood, Florida Public Library today in an effort to donate a book to their library. To my dismay, there is a process in order to do that. One cannot give away a free item to a library without a lot of red tape. I am working on a few more spots in Florida while I am here. I need to get more book tour dates ready as well. I reached out to donate to the University of Miami's library as well. I shall see how that goes. I hope people are having a productive week! England's Crow Zone Radio- Potential Interview

Hello Everyone!

I use Twitter a lot to speak to different people about my book. I can be found using my name Leslie M Jasper. I am maxed out as far as how many people I can follow at 2,000 people. I am unsure why but that is the reason why I do not follow back. A person who operates Crow Zone Radio has been chatting with me about potentially discussing my book.  Crow Zone Radio discusses books and broadcast out of England. They have to clear it with their boss, Mrs. HBZ, before proceeding further. I am excited at the prospect of reaching readers globally. I will keep you posted if I do an interview with them. They have a Wednesday book club at 9pm UK time (4pm New York EST). They have live and recorded shows and can be found at crowzone.co.uk to check them out!

I was also speaking, Via Twitter, to a library up in Canada about coming up for a book talk. The Grimsby Library is located in Grimsby, Ontario, Canada. They are close to the U.S. Border. I told them I would love to take a trip up there. I would need to contact other local libraries and set up a Canadian book tour. I am willing to travel most anywhere if there is reader interest. Have Construction Tales Become A Part of Your Book Club!

Hello Everyone!

I would love to see a #BookClub use Construction Tales as a part of their reading.  I would be honored and would welcome discussion.  I can even get discounted books for the #bookclub that wants to take on reading my book. I would love to hear feedback and engage with readers around the globe. I am sure what I find normal is not normal to others.

I have an older Russian electrical engineer reading my book now. He finds it fascinating how I didn't have an army's of family to help me out in my time of need after my husband died. I explained to him that my family felt I had it under control and I didn't need their help. I did need help but would never ask for help. He finds it so fascinating that trying the work didn't scare me or break me down. I'm sure he was taken back by how challenging my journey was and I didn't give up. I kept plugging along and survived.

I am planning on reaching out to more libraries to get some book talks going again for the end of 2014 and 2015. Off to do some more book marketing! Talk to you all soon!

Blogger's Dislike of My Opinion From Chapter 4- Developing My First Impression

Hello everyone!

I stumbled upon a blog where a few people were discussing my book.  I invited them to my blog in an effort to discuss their dislike for my opinion in Chapter 4- Developing My First Impression.  I am going to provide the chapter clip in case anyone would like to start a discussion on the topic.  I value anyone's agreement or disagreement of my opinion.  It is based off of my experiences and observations as well as feedback from the men I work with on a daily basis for the past 20 years.  Here is the chapter clip:

I had learned rather quickly in my apprenticeship that I needed to work on my first impression prior to coming onto a  jobsite.  This discovery was based upon jobsite conversations that were held between foremen and journeymen.  Co-workers often form their first impression of either a journeyman or an apprentice within the first day of meeting the new worker.   This technique, known as “thin slicing,” is often used since construction workers typically work with new people on multiple jobsites on a regular basis.  Thin slicing is needed to assess workers in a short period of time in order to place them on the tasks they are capable of working on.  The new workers who give bad first impressions are given the worst and/or most challenging tasks on the job.  This is exactly why my first impression must always be a positive one.

            I had already known, prior to getting into this business, that I had the deck stacked against me due to my gender.  What I had no idea about was how steep the hill was that I had to climb and what exactly my first impression had entailed.  Over the years, I have discovered that women in the northeast are coddled by men and not much is expected from them.  It is such a stark contrast to my upbringing on the west coast in Oregon.  Women in the northeast are not required to do auto repairs, change a tire, perform home improvement projects, or much other manual labor.  Women’s roles in the northeast, for the most part, are to keep the home in line, transport the children to school and practice, and keep their appearances up.  With little expectations placed on women, it seemed reasonable to assume that I would not offer much help on the job.  I hate to say it but women, in the eyes of the average guy, are not considered hard workers; they are expected to be rather lazy.  I find this mindset to be disheartening and rather discouraging for women.  I had never set out to change the men’s mindset of all women; I just wanted them to make the exception for me.

After re-reading the chapter clip, I do admit I should have said in parenthesis that not all women fit the mold.  Since that would be ridiculous to put everyone in the same box.  However, I will stand by and say there are a heavy amount of women who fit this role.  I also base my opinion from feedback from the men they are married to around here.  Women who shoot guns, change the oil, work in my profession, rip/replace sheetrock, and chop wood are the minority in the northeast.  It is almost to where I feel like an outcast for being able to tackle many different things.  These activities were a normal work load for myself and others I knew when I was a kid.  It is a stark contrast to people I am surrounded by now living in New York.  It was merely an observation being made and not intended to rip anyone down.  Remember, I have learned to shoot from the hip as a construction worker.  My son has often said I am too blunt and honest and it can be taken the wrong way. 

To my dismay, being self-sufficient is not just a card handed to every woman.  I am indeed sad for this- after all, it made my life more difficult earning respect in this business.  My objective of this chapter clip was to explain the uphill battle I faced earning my spot in this business.  I am a workaholic/workhorse person by nature.  Therefore, anyone who works slower than me is naturally perceived as lazy to me.  My assessment can be skewed due to how I view the world through my lens that has been laden with having to work hard and push past pain and being tired.  My opinion was not made in any way to degrade women of make them feel less than equal.  I champion women who push past boundaries and do great things!!  I think more of that should go on in life!  I did mostly provide the perception of me based off of the experiences my co-workers have with women.  It is not good feedback from them, at times. 

I certainly hope this blog post clears up any confusion as to my opinion on women in the northeast.  I strongly encourage a discussion on this topic.  I would be happy to compare life notes with anyone.  I do not march to the beat of the same drum.  Nor do I expect anyone else to think the same way I do.

Labor Day Parade Pictures-NYC 2014

New York City Labor Day Parade- Very Large and Successful!!

Hello everyone!

As I mentioned before, I was attending the Labor Day Parade in New York City on Sat Sept 6th. Our own business manager, Chris Erikson, was the Grand Marshall this year. It was a huge parade that went on for blocks and marched up 5th Avenue. The weather was good yet extremely humid. People were sweating profusely! Some streets was so packed, you could barely move! I have been going to these parades for the past 18 years. It is a huge event that is something everyone should see in their lifetime.

Happy Labor Day!!

Hi everyone! I hope everyone is enjoying their Labor Day weekend. Labor Day is observed by American workers in the the United States. I would love to know if it is celebrated outside the U.S. So feel free to let me know. Workers began celebrating the holiday with the first Labor Day Parade in New York City in 1882.  I will be marching in this year's Labor Day Parade in New York City next Saturday.  I am proud to be union affiliated.  This year, our business manager, Chris Erikson,  will be the Grand Marshall of the parade. We will be marching early down 5th Avenue in New York City on September 6, 2014.

I will take pictures of the parade and share when the time comes. I will dig up some old Labor Day photos. I want to acknowledge blog readers from Europe stopping by to read my posts. I thank you for stopping by! I have a block of readers from Turkey as well!

People in Brookings, Oregon Know About My Book!

Hello Everyone!

I wanted to share a story my sister, Kim, recently mentioned to me.  Kim was at a country music festival in Oregon where she lives.  I also grew up in Oregon.  I left right after high school and joined the Navy.  I never returned after my service and moved to New York 20 years ago this month.  My sister was telling some neighbors, where she was camping, about my book.  The lady stopped her and said she had another friend tell her about the book already!  The lady probably did not believe my sister at first (based on her reaction).  I guess it is a small world since this woman had already knew about it before my sister could tell her.  I enjoyed the story since it pleases me that people across the United States know about the book.  Please continue to share the news about the book.  I am still waiting for comments or feedback on my social media sites or on the blog.  I would really like feedback from people outside the United States.  The feedback would be very important for me to know who would enjoy the book more!

Construction Tales- Featured in IPR License Magazine at Beiijing Book Fair the end of August 2014

Hello everyone!

I hope you are all doing well!  Enjoy the summer while it lasts.  I have laid off of book signings so that I can enjoy my summer.  Now it is time to start reaching out to libraries to see if they would like to hear about the book.  I do have a director reading the book right now.  I look forward and plan to share the feedback when it comes in.  I did sign up with England's IPR License in an effort to attract an international deal for the book.  I shall see how that goes.  As part of joining, my book will be featured in the next edition of IPR License Magazine for August.  I was promised a mailed copy when it is finished.  I will be scanning and sharing when that becomes available.  I also have agreed to pay for an ad to be featured in the IPR License Magazine edition for October.  This magazine will be distributed at the German Book Fair.  I have a decent amount of blog traffic from Germany.  I would love to hear feedback from Germans about the book.  Please feel free to post comments on your opinion.  I am working on getting the book translated into German and released on the market on Amazon in the near future.  I would also like it translated into Spanish as well.  In due time.

Construction Tales: Now Registered with IPR License Out of England

Hello everyone!

Sorry I have not been able to blog in a little while.  My new job as an electrical engineer/CAD operator in New York City takes huge chunks of time lately.  I have been doing limited Tweeting and Instagram interactions as well..cannot forget Facebook!  However, I did manage to find time to register with IPR License.  They are an international platform for authors out of England.  I am excited to be a part of a new venture.  I am indeed looking for any forms of international offers.  I am assuming that a woman construction worker from New York would be of interest to people outside the United States.  Here is the website for IPR License:

Signed Up With IPR License from England

Hello everyone!

I hope you all had a great work week and ready for the weekend?? After some review, I decided to join IPR License out of England. It is an international platform to license book rights around the world. The book will be included in the Beijing International Book Fair in the IPR License trade magazine. I am interested in making the book visible on a global scale. I got to visit New York City hosted Book Expo America the end of May. Made some great contacts and may have an international offer in Asia. I will see how that develops. I will post links when the magazine becomes available.

I had a great evening speaking to fellow NYC union female electricians last night about my book. I was invited to promote the book at the Amber Lights Club in Queens, New York last night. I ran out of books. There was a strong interest in my teen version of my book. Well, done with lunch. Gotta finish the work week strong in the next few hours!

Book Expo America- An Amazing Event to See in New York City!!

Hello everyone,

I am hoping you are all enjoying your summer.  My work has taken up alot of my personal time to blog recently.  However, I am on here to let you know about Book Expo America that took place in New York City on May 28-31st at the Jacob Javits Center.  I had a few female tradesladies come through for me and take pictures next to my book at the convention.  A few ladies even hooked me up with tickets to view the event on the last day.  What a place and the impressive booths of vendors throughout the world!!  I spent a few hours there and felt that there was so much more to see!  I got some pretty cool contacts and got some direction with the book and my future projects. 

I am showing pictures so that you can see how massive this event was in New York City.  It was quite impressive and I did score quite a few free books!!  Don't forget the ebook is available for Nook/Kindle/iTunes!  I will talk to you all soon!  Good luck on the upcoming work week!

Vernon High School's Career Day as the students did from hearing my story.  I am amazed at the kids in the school who are members of the National Honor Society!!  The guidance counselor, Ms. Williams, was a pleasure to work with and truly a guiding light for the students.  I decided to donate 5 books to the students in the school who express an interest.  It was a great opportunity to talk about my occupation.  At least one book will go to the library for students to read my story.  I got to present with a duo from All State Air Control who are in the HVAC business (heating/air conditioning).  They were great people and I am glad to have met them!  I am off to shower then sleep!  Have a great week to all!

New Job in New York City as an Electrical Engineer

Hello everyone!

I am entering week #3 in my new job as an electrical engineer in New York City.  The days are long and I have alot of information to absorb.  I work for the largest electrical contractor in New York City.  We have alot of projects on our desks and many on the horizon as well!  However, I am enjoying and appreciating the opportunity that I now have in my hands!  I got the job since I have 18 years experience in the field as an electrician.  I also got the blessing of the boss who thinks I am a go-getter and capable of learning anything I set my mind to do.  I am learning right now 2D blueprints on the computer.  In the near future, I will be learning 3D blueprints.  I am looking forward to working and learning this week!

Happy Mother's Day to all of the ladies out there who are teachers and mentors to their children.  It is not an easy role but worthwhile none-the-less!  I got to enjoy the day with my boys hiking in the woods and enjoying a lunch together.  It was a great day and fabulous weather in the New York tri-state area!  I hope to follow up with more details about my job transition and the book in the near future!  I must get my rest since 4am comes really early for me! :)

I walked a few miles while reading this great book last night! It is a quick read filled with wit and humor that's infused appropriately into a serious topic about the afterlife. I enjoyed learning about the Karmic Lessons chapter and examples of loved ones passing peacefully was indeed comforting. I sit with Cindy periodically for readings so I was very interested in reading her book since I appreciate her humor and guidance. She is indeed a clear channel to passed loved ones and a guide for future life events. I advise picking up a copy since you are certain to walk away with a sense of reassurance regarding the end of life and some good takeaway points from the book!

Book Talk at George Fischer Middle School in Carmel, New York!!

Hello eveyone!

I had a wonderful experience talking to the students in Ms. Smith's class at George Fischer Middle School!!!  They were a bright group of talented kids!  Some future plumbers, electricians, actresses, models, and some rocket scientists!! They were a pleasure to chat with about my teen version of my book!!!  They are so excited to read about my book!  That feature gave me tremendous amounts of energy and excitment!!!  I gave out copies of the book for the class to read my story!  It should inspire them and challenge them to think that smart and strong boys and girls are capable of doing anything they want to do in life!

The entire class will be reading my book and posting on my blog their thoughts about the different chapters.  I will be posting pictures and comments from students.  They will also be providing fantastic and thorough reviews of the book for Amazon and Barnes & Noble!!  I am excited to exchange and chat with them during the reading process!

I do plan on attending the Mt. Vernon Career Day event being held on May 2nd!  I was invited recently to attend and it would be an honor to inspire students about my field of work!!

The kids can follow me at LeslieMJasper on instagram.  They vowed to interact with me and start a discussion about the book! :) Super excited to hear their feedback.  The book should be inspiring and funny.
